Are you thinking of Syrian Rue? It's also called Peganum harmala. Did you want to use it by itself or in conjunction with other things?

It contains harmala and harmaline which are short acting MAOI's that are fairly selective to MAO-A.

Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOI's) inhibit the action of a chemical that breaks down serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephren (also called noradrenalin.) Inhibition of MAO leads to higher levels of these neurotransmitters.

There are two subtypes of MAO, type A and type B. Type A breaks down the serotonin while B works on dopamine and norepinephren.

People taking MAOI's should avoid foods containing tyramine. Foods that contain tyramine include cheese, chocolate, certain wines and beers, and a whole lot of other stuff. Consuming tyramine while taking MAOI's can lead to a potentially fatal hypertensive (really really high blood pressure) crisis. I've read that tyramine is mostly metabolized by MAO-B, so harmaline should be fairly safe, but I wouldn't go testing that out.

People tend to take Syrian Rue to enhance psychadelics like LSD, mushrooms, mescaline, and DMT. Syrian Rue will have an amazing effect on DMT. Ayahausca is a mix of a MAOI and DMT containing plants. Some people say that taking Syrian Rue with mushrooms will make the mushrooms feel subjectively twice as potent.

Avoid MDMA like the plague if you take an MAOI. Also avoid other amphetamines and DXM.
