Snow in the Bahng?
anyone ever try putting snow in your bong chamber instead of water? im gonna try it as soon as i score my bag for tonight because i just built a new bong, and we got 7 inches of snow in the past 2 days here in pgh.is there a big difference,or is it basically the same as icewater? this is the first bong i will have used for,oh,id say 6 months.so i am REALLY looking forward to it,even though im just gonna have some reggies. oh,and another question:to choke or not to choke?i can't decide whether i should put a choke(or carb depending on area i suppose) on my new bong.i have in the past but it becomes a pain as it is one more thing to worry about when i am stoned.more than once ive thought my bowl was cashed and sat down only to go to repack it later and discover that there was half a load or more still residing in the bowl.confuzeling...i probably wont,at least until i hear you guys' opinions. the mouthpiece on the bong has about a 2 inch diameter(drooool) so it should be pretty easy to get the smoke out of the chamber by just loosening the seal between my mouth and the mouthpiece.

Re: Snow in the Bahng?
i would pop a hole for the carb. you can always put some tape over it when you dont want to use it. i really like getting that fresh air on top of your hit.

Re: Snow in the Bahng?
I wouldn't put snow in the bong. Think about it, when your first inhale, the smoke is gonna create a bit of a tunnel in the snow. This means that it wont be getting as cooled off as it would with ice water, and it definitly won't be stripped of any of the shit coming off of the plant matter, as water would do.
Ice water is your best bet.

Re: Snow in the Bahng?
i also thought of that same problem especially the part where the snow melts and floods all in your bowl. but try it and see what happens.

Re: Snow in the Bahng?
cobra, its a bong not a bowl...and i was going to put water in it up to the point where the bowl's stem started, and fill it the rest of the way with snow.itll still bubble but then the smoke will be drawn up through the snow. it will probably create a bit of slush on the bottom, but thats not a bad thing. actually now that i think about it,snow mixed with just enough cold tap water to make it semi liquid, like a slushy from the 7 11,would probably be much better anyways. but i dont have any ice,and im not going to walk to the store in the cold and snow just to buy a bag of ice. seems a bit ironic to me...

Think about it. If you fill it with water, upto the bowl, then pour snow on top, what will happen? Water will come pouring out the bowl. The water level must remain lower than where the stem meets the bowl! And if you add something that will displace the water [ie: snow] over the point where the stem reaches the bowl, it will be the same as adding too much water! As well, whehn Cobra said it will flood your bowl it's pretty obvious he meant the bowl on the bong!

Re: Snow in the Bahng?
if you want to cool down the water you could put snow in there...
but if it was slushy all that would happen is it will be cold and not filter the smoke as much.
think about it- more bubbling = more filterage. if you have slush in it it will bubble bigger and therefore not filter as much.
i say, put snow in it, but just enough to cool down the water...
