yes i know there's alot of posts about making a bong, but i have some different materials, and i want to know what you think would be the best way to make a bong with them.
I have:
1 peanut butter jar with lid
clear plastic tubing; 1 three inch, 1 seven inch, and 1 over a foot long with a plastic piece on the end that narrows at the mouth
a part from a dry erase marker, hollow with two openings
and a piece to make a bowl with

I realize that there's a couple of different approaches I could take, and I would like your advice from personal expierance on what works best and a 'how to' on making it. Thanks -sharon

Put the marker tube through the PB jar cap, mount the bowl on the top of it. Put a length of the tubing in the side of the jar near the top. Fill the jar with water, load the bowl, toke until you think Rosie O'Donnell is sexy.

ok, sounds great, but just one more thing to do with the bowl. I have a bolt type thing that's as wide as a dime and around 1.5 inches in length. I can go filch some screen from the lint trap from the laundry mat down the corner (if that'd work, what do you think?). But the real problem is i'm a little bit lost on how the whole screen thing works. You put it so the weed gets held in place and the smoke filters down. You put in the weed, you light up, but why does the smoke go down into the jar? sorry if this is all obvious to every one else, but I'm as stupid as they come -sharon

A screen is there to hold the weed in place, thats it. If there was no screen the weed would fall right down the stem into the water

And it goes into the jar to be cooled/fintered by the waters. If Im correct when you smoke somehting the smoke is comming out just about as hot as the flame. And that does burn your throaght. So a nice bit of ice water filtering it not only relieve a lot of the heat but it also filters out some of the crud from the plant matter.

Just make the eraser pen piece go about a half inch from the bottom of the jar, and make the plastic tubing [mouth piece] only go into the jar about a 1/2 inch. Fill the jar 2/3 of the way with ice & water, fill the bowl and smoke.

When you suck on a bong, you lower the air pressure in the chamber. That makes the relatively higher pressure outside the chamber flow into the chamber, bringing the smoke with it. Just basic physics.
