Question about budding plants
Hey- I've posted before about my "babies"... Well i had to get rid of one cause it got sick but it was only pollinating anyway so no huge loss...i have 2 big ones left. My problem is they've reached a rut, a dormant growth stage. they have buds on them, all over the top leaves and in clusters down the sides, but there not getting any bigger. These plants used to grow so much i'd have to raise the lights twice a week at least, now neither the plant nor the buds themselves seem to be getting any bigger... i just thought maybe someone would have some idea as to what might help..i've already trimmed them back a few times and cut back there light to 8 hrs a day or less..could the change in season from summer to winter have effected them, even though there inside and i've kept a constant temp. check on them?
Thanks in advance for any help!

Re: Question about budding plants
Well, it's an annual so it won't grow forever in the flowering stage. You need to learn when to harvest.
Or not. I have no idea what you're talking about. I just grow flowers now.

Re: Question about budding plants
I think your problem might be related to the fact that you have cut the light to eight hours. I would increase the light to twelve on twelve off as an experiment to see if the growth resumes. There are many reasons why the growth might have stopped. Ph might be too high or low. You might have locked up your nutrients, causing the plant growth to halt. How long have they been flowering? What fertilizer regimin have you been using? How strong are the lights, and what size space are they in? You need at least 40 watts per sq ft to get optimal growth, and the lights need to be as close to the tops as possible without burning them. Without more info though, I can only guess what the problem might be. Good luck, and maybe I can help if you can give more detailed info.

Re: Question about budding plants
no reason for you to ever drop below 12 hours of light. to bud they need 12 hours of uninterrupted darkness; no more, no less. some people will go for say... 12 and a half dark just to be on the safe side, but more than that and... well i dunno what because ive never seen anyone do that before. you should probably harvest what you have, consider yourself lucky, and start over. read some books about indoor growing, that always helps. theres alot of stuff about growing dope that it doesnt sound like you have any clue about.

Re: Question about budding plants
Hey- Well i didn't think i had to go into a whole list of how i had everything set up. and actually i tend to think people really make this alot harder than it is. I have them in a small room, a pantry off of my kitchen with no door though so they get plenty of ventilation. I have them both on 5 gallon pots, very deep pots with holes in the bottom for drainage. they are about 4 ft tall and i have a incandesent grow light (the long ones) 40watt, directly over the top of each plant hanging from the ceiling, and two lamps on either side for extra light and heat. in the lamps i have reptile lights that say they provide the same uva and uvb as the natural sunlight plus added heat. there temp is staying around 85-90 day, 75 at night. the reason i reduced the light in the first place is they kept growing too tall even after trimming them back and i was afraid i'd run out of room so i read in a home growers guide that the less light they get the faster they'd bud.
As for fertilizer in the begining before they reached 2 ft and up i was using miracle grow (i forget the numbers exactly but it was what was recommended on Erowid for homegrowing...20-15-30, something like that) but i haven't used it for a few months now... As for the idea to harvest what i have, i'd LIKE to see them prosper, if i harvest what i have now i'd get no more than maybe a 10 sack at best! And thats really pinching it too! Please, now i've added more info, anyone have any decent ideas or even links? I'll dig it up myself if anyone points me in the right direction. BTW the idea about the light might help, i will raise them back up slowly to 12on 12off and see....maybe MORE light or heat....? Thanks

Re: Question about budding plants
Okay, Your problem is light deficiency. As I said you need at least 40 watts per sq. ft. Also, The incandescent bulbs are most likely the wrong spectrum of light. For flowering I would suggest a High Pressure sodium light and ballast. I would get a 400 watt system, but You could probably get by on a 250 watt system. HPS lights emit an orange spectrum light which is utilized by the plant in flowering. The incandescent bulbs are most likely too weak, and also in the wrong spectrum. The reason your plants were getting so tall is that they were stretching to try and recieve more light. I would suggest you cut your losses on this harvest, and move up to a HPS light. Your buds will be a lot thicker and much more healthy. For reading I would suggest any books by Ed Rosenthal, or Jorge Cervantes, and always take any grow files you read on the net with a grain of salt, as most are completely garbage. Good luck, and if you have any questions post them and I will try my best to help.

Re: Question about budding plants
with those lights and the high temperatures youre reaching you should probably be grateful you got anything to grow, much less anything that resembles a bud.
people go to great lenghts to grow marijuana, yes. but really, what they do isnt that complicated. what youre doing is not only more time consuming but also gonna yeild you absolutely squat. honesltly, id tell you to give up right now. you cant just grow dope with any old light. think of the sun... does what you have even start to resemble the sun? outdoor grass likes FULL sun, ALL day long. what you have resembles pot growing underneath a heavy canopy under a rock. a heat rock.

Re: Question about budding plants
Ok, i might sound a little rude or pissy here but i am just a little tired of people always criticizing my setup! Sure, it would be fuckin great to have a huge greenhouse with mulitple light fixtures, all types of nice fuckin fancy things to grow your own shit. but goddamn it it's not as bad as alot of the shit i've heard. people fucking growing in fish tanks in closets!! i mean i spent about 60 bucks on my shit. it's not as though i threw cheap seeds in dirt from outside and placed a regular light bulb over it. i fuckin researched this for about a week, choosing what spectrum of lights to buy, what type dirt was best... i'm just going to stop even posting about it, look it up myself and do my best. you all act like i'm fuckin retarded for even trying and should quit now. fine, though for all your advice and money spending tips i wonder how many of you guys are sucessfully growing right now huh?
(sorry to sound ungrateful..long day very tired also tipsy but nothing left to get drunk on and now all i am is discouraged)
