Re: Waht is Naproxen?
Mild to moderate pain. Musculoskeletal and soft tissue inflammation including rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, bursitis, tendinitis, ankylosing spondylitis. Primary dysmenorrhea, acute gout. Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (naproxen only). NOTE: The delayed-release or enteric-coated products are not recommended for initial treatment of pain because, compared to other naproxen products, absorption is delayed. Investigational: Antipyretic in cancer clients, sunburn, acute migraine (sodium salt only), prophylaxis of migraine, migraine due to menses, PMS (sodium salt only). OTC. Relief of minor aches and pains due to the common cold, headache, toothache, muscular aches, backache, minor arthritis pain, pain due to menstrual cramps. Decrease fever.
I swear to god this bbs is used as an excuse not to do your own work...

Re: Waht is Naproxen?
Naproxen is an antiinflamitore like asprin and tylenol. It has no recreational dose, i acually find it the best OTC pain reliver there is. Well i take that back i have moved on to something called Magnesium Salicylate, its a cousin of asprin i guess, great pain reliver even if your a junkie.

I very rarely do this, but perhaps it's your lack of consideration in using the cap lock, coupled with the attitude that I am picking up from your post. Of course, I could be wrong, and if so, I apologize now, for what follows. So that said... You are a dipsh*t of the first degree: The kind of person who's contributions and actions are why it's so damn near impossible for those of us who really do live in pain on a 24/7 basis Let me ask you this: Were you at the Dr. truly because A)You were in pain and wanted the Dr. do something to relieve it? Or B) Because you wanted him to give you painkillers/opiates? If you said 'B' then I've nothing more to say as that proves my point. If you said 'A' then the natural assumption would be that your interest was in getting rid of the pain, not how it was done. Do you even know what NSAID stands for? It's: Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug. For the type of pain that you must have [for the Dr to prescribe a NSAID], the first thing a Dr. will prescribe is a NSAID. You don't think that they'd go straight to a narcotic first, do you? The narcotic is for when other things don't work, because they only take care of the pain. Whereas NSAIDs helps relieve the cause of the pain, which should be what you want, right? Often times a painkiller will be given in addition to the NSAID, but rarely before and first thing. quote: Originally posted by ramairta00:

There's nothing TO say, unless you are addicted or want pain pills. Otherwise you would try what he gives you first to see if it work. Because many times it does. It's only when, after going through several different NSAIDS and other stuff, finding them ineffective that you try for something else. Then when the Dr. still won't consider pain pills; when it's totally obvious that you're in pain, then is when the Dr. is not doing his job, which is to heal. But the reason many do this is because too many have tried to get over on them and get pain pills when they don't need them. Or they're afraid of the Feds hounding them for prescribing the narcotics. And the Feds wouldn't so bitchy if not for all the people who have abused the stuff and helped trigger the over reactionary mind set of the general public. All of which means that I and many like me must either needlessly go through life in great pain or live on the other side of the legal fence just to be able to live a life that is as close to normal as they can. Re: Waht is Naproxen?
I would like to refer the kind reader to Antonin Artaud's letter to the State comissionner of narcotics back in 1912. Therein Artuad speaks of pains other then pnysical however very much pani-like, the conditions as he calls mental anguish. Such states are ONLY releaved by narcotics and no doctor in the world would prescribe them for that purpose. Thats when we take it to the streets.

Narcotics - and I speak only of opiates here - are not the answer for mental anguish, or mental anything for that matter. In general mental anguish is a temporary state brought on by stress or stresses in ones life, that only lasts as long as the condition/situations that is the basis for it. Granted there can be a never ending series of crisis that keeps one in a perpetual state of anguish, but that itself is a mental condition all its own. Either way the opiate will only mask the feelings for the time you are on it. It does nothing to alleviate the underlying cause and when it wears off, the anguish is back. And once addiction sets in, there's a whole new cause of anguish, but this one is self perpetuating. I see no solution to ones problems by use of opiates to hide the feelings. True: you feel fine under its influence, but it is only illusion. Now if the mental problem is caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain, then opiates is even more so not the right answer. Again, it's true that it will make you feel ok - for a while - but is can even worsen the imbalance in your head which can have many predictable and unpredictable effect; ranging from simply making the addiction more intense [i.e.: harder to break], to making the imbalance even worse, so that when the opiate wears off you are flooded with all sorts of conflicting emotions and such. Again, opiate is no solution; only a temporary fix at best. I speak as one who is afflicted with chemical imbalanced induced mental problems, so I feel at least partially qualified to speak on this
