is it as easy as its displayed to be? many sites say that the plants require no care whatsoever, but it seems to good to be true- as the seeds are readily available through many sites. If its that easy why havent people been growin opium in their backyard?

Im just wondering how mch opium you'de get from say 1 pod, or 10 pods, or 50 pods. Because I was thinking of groing them indoors before, I just didnt know what kinda lightuing and didnt care enough to look! But seeing as how I did the weed thing, I did the mushrooms thing, I now should do the poppy thing. [note: im doing all these 'things' once while living with my parents so I have some experience when I move out. I dont wanna get them in shit.]

Oh, any suggestions on the type of poppy to grow? Seeing as how on this site im looking at theres quite a few opium containing poppies.

For me the most hardy and also one of the most potent strains of poppies is H&C, growing indoors probably isnt economical as is, unless you have a large indoor space.
Taz i would say is the most potent strain aswell as not a very hardy strain, although the difference in potency is minimal aswell. My advice for any grower would be either H&C's or giganthemums. Giganthemums tend to not be as potent per gram as H&C but give more grams and also tend to be hardy. To grow poppies indoors i would definetely advise the hydroponic route to optimize the amount of growth per foot and lower the amount of root space needed, thus making optimal use of the light available.

hmm...well, im only asking because ive got a friend that has alot of open land, could i use that to my advantage? how much will 1 plant give? like say i grew 2 plants at home, would they give a decent amount of opium?

A couple of well grown plants will give you a couple of hits. I probably average three doses per two plants. But your tolerance is a BIG detail to consider, some will need 5x the amount of others, but tolerance will build quickly and drop quickly, grow giganthemums if you can, if you can only grow two plants. If you have a large openspace, then use it, but remember opium poppies are illegal in some places, (though not in the UK).

Oh, by the way, the amount of actual opium i get from each plant is small, remember the whole plant contains morphine and collecting just the O will not give you anywere near it all, its a bit like haveing a cow for meat, the steak is the best bit, but their is alot more meat to be found. (a weird one but i just had a steak sandwich.)
