Re: how much sugar and yeast?
The amount of yeast you add is not determinate to the molasses. It doesn't take much, I have some brewers yeast and it says to use one packet that is ~2 teaspoons for 5 GALLONS! Bottom line, you do not need to use a lot of yeast, but the more you use, the faster it will ferment. Fermenting under a light would be fine, yeast works better in warm water (warm, NOT hot!), But it would not do any good to put it under a light AFTER you ferment it, where the hell did you get that idea?

Re: how much sugar and yeast?
Fermenting IS the proccess of turning sugar onto alcohol. If you mean distilation, I dont suggest it unless you do it properly, and remove the methanol. If you want to distill it some, put it in the freezer for 24 hours, and save the liquide. The ice will be water, as water freezes before alcohol.
