Default acetone again

ok i was drinking a cup of green tea,(have you noticed it looks like weed),anyway i realized that when you soak the teabag in alittle water the taste is stronger oposed to using a lot of water, the time you soak it for also makes it stronger, so if you chop up your gram and put it in the smallest amount of acetone possible and leave it overnight, then take it oustide or somthing to start the evaporation wont you get much more thc in the product, scince you increase the time the weed is soaking and decrease the amount of acetone you use?
by the way if your wondering why i care so much about this acetone thing its because haveing the best part of the weed in liquid form makes it so much easier to carry around, you can put it on food, when you smoke it theirs nothing but the thc,(no carconogins, bad taste)you can put a couple of drops on a rolling paper and just smoke that, etx.. dont you people see how much better this is then weed or is it a complete myth that this stuff can get you high? well i have s tiny bit from my gram and im gonna try the rolling paper thing on monday, so can someone pleese answer my questions and tell me if im just wasting my time

If your weed looks like green tea your wasting your time.

Hash oil is not a myth, your probably just doing it all wrong. Remember kids, most solvents are poison.

And why the fuck did you open a new topic for this crap?

*sigh* Ok. Listen man acetone yes is a solvent and can thus extract THC from weed. However, there is a better solvent out there for isolating and concentrating THC even a fuckin' gram. It is called alcohol. That's right alcohol. Everclear believe it or not works well and is not as toxic as acetone which by the way should ever only be worked with if you have chemical resistant gloves on cause it comes through your skin and eventually cause cancer. And so it should be treated acordingly. Click here for the tried and true method for THC extraction: http://www.truthtree.com/thc_extract.shtml
Remeber what I said about tone man! The shit is to handled as if it were a poison because it actually is.

So can someone who uses nail polish remover eventually get cancer?

And when is Everclear dumbass not anything but 190 proof?! Also, "Mr.He who knows what he is talking about" so you are saying that acetone is to be treated like it is water? Nail polish being applied only to ones nails and in such small amounts is still labeled with a warning for proper ventilation. Now why is that?! Its fuckers like you who encourage people to eat ten Lortabs at once. Fuck the Tylenol in them! Fuck thier liver! Hell down em' with a six-pack! Get it straight dumbass acetone is not repsected like it should be cause of fuckers like you who encourage ignorance on newbies to the counterculture! Do you know how many painters end up with cancers?! You don't do you?! Why is that?! Don't go shooting your mouth off and saying your blatent disregard for sensible handling of poisons. And save your flaming for someone who actually will feel the burn.

Acually while your young taking lots of tylenl isnt that bad for you, you have to do it on a regular basis to really jack your liver. I have horbal migraines and when i dont have the right medication for it i seriously have to take 15 tylenols to dull them down . I have had my liver checked its fine. The doc tells me that when your young it hard to fuck your liver you have to do that kinda stuff almost everyday for a few years to cause signafigant damage.

Acetone is a way better solvent than ethanol, especially since it can be bought at 100% purity and whatnot. As for being safe, hey you can't win them all...

Acetone is NOT a better solvent then ethanol. It pulls out more of the shit you don't want with the THC. Also, the acetone that kind be purchased at the hardware store is NOT 100% pure Its like 10% water.

Ok here is the final post regarding this subject, just to clear everything up with everyone.

Acetone is a wonderful solvent for many uses, it is amazingly non-toxic, doen't absorb through your skin and is NON-carcinogenic. It is largely used in my lab to dry cleaned glassware. It completly evaporates out of extracts because of its very low boiling point. Unfortunately it makes for shitty hash oil cause it takes out waxes, sterols, pigments, chlorophyll and pretty much everything out of your material. So you get dirty extract.

Alcohols are shitty for making extracts, you get dirty oil again because so much extra stuff dissolves in it. Black tar oil results.

Remember THC is absolutely non-polar.

So that means that your best bet is petroleum ether. I mean really pure redistilled stuff. Not coleman's straight out of the bottle cause you will get gross bitter rust inhibitors in your shit.

The tops for those of you technically competant is supercritical butane extraction. Very easy to do in the winter outside when it gets below zero. You've heard of the pressure pipe extractor? Enough butane can be had cheap at wallmart etc. not as cheap as acetone or alcohol but for the extra ten bucks it's worth it.

that should have said it all right there. im willing to be enough pot to really make some oil that whatever you made is 100% pure shit and that anyone with half a brain wouldnt put it near their lips. and drinking acetone is only gonna make you dumber!

If you are looking for pure extract, why not just use butane on a nice cold winter day?

Acetone is very innoculous, I don't care what some Creator thinks. I would feel perfectly safe using it to wash my dishes.

Please like they would use a highly toxic solvent in nail polish remover.

I wouldn't drink any, I might taste some but that's it.

Oh yeah junglist, if you made an extract with acetone the amount remaining in it after evaporation would be so negligable that you have no need to worry. In fact you should be more worried about the stuff outgassing from the plastics in your pop bottles than this stuff.

Weemin, belive this:

"Synonyms: dimethyl ketone; 2-propanone; methyl ketone; dimethylformaldehyde.
Vapour irritant to eyes, nose and throat. Vapour is narcotic at high concentrations. Practically non-harmful by ingestion."

After 5 minutes of looking to see whether Acetone is stronger than Ethanol, I gave up, but I am pretty sure it is for your solvent needs. Also, you kind of have to be 21 to obtain ethanol, so you might want to try Acetone.

What about isopropyl alchohol, thats all I have ever used to make goo, the %99.9 stuff is easily available, and although toxic if ingested, it evaporates cleanly from your finished product. You can controll the amount of tar that gets into your oil by the temperature of your iso, doing the whole extraction at -15 will yield smaller amounts of wicked goo, heating it a bit will yield a sellable product from shitty scragweed. Oh, and as for smoking the finished product, I always dip a pin in my goo then apply it to a hot stove element and suck up the smoke with a straw, lots of oil heads would say rolling it is a waste because you do not get as high.
Cheers.

See "practically non-harmful by ingestion" "vapor narcotic at high conc" "nose eye irritant"

In other words it'll be a pain in the ass to constantly be around, but it's not harmful even in the long run, won't cause damage, or even give you a headache. Even when I use a little here or there I've never been choked out by it or put in discomfort. I actually like the odor of acetone. Mmmmm... DCM is nice too, but THAT IS a carcinogen and toxic.
