New ecstasy research
I just heard on NPR that ecstasy, even if you only do it once, will cause brain damage. Continued use of it apparently increases your chance of getting several disease very dramatically as well.
What do yall think about this?

Re: New ecstasy research
id be interested to see the research and hear specifically what part of the brain will endure permanent damage from taking one single pill once in your life. id need to see it to believe it. i dont really advocate avid use of ecstacy. there was a period of time where i did it probably 3 times a week, for about 3 months or so, and not much less than that for the remainder of the year. i havent taken any E for a long time now, maybe over 2 years, if not close to that. but i dont feel any worse off, i still make the same grades i did before all of that, and i dont seem to be any more prone to mental instability or checmical releated problems in my brain. or maybe im just too fried to notice but like i said, i dont encourage anyone to take E like that, and back when i was doin it i think it was safer. and i knew exactly where it came from, in amsterdam. most users cant say that about anything they use.

Re: New ecstasy research
uhm, i don't know if thats "new" cuz the anti-drug shit is saying it forver. they also say that weed is high addictive and kills many brain cells. what a load of shit, the only way they can think of to keep people off drugs is to lie.

Re: New ecstasy research
well whenever you hear of "research" that is based on no conclusive evidence, it's bogus. propaganda is a good word to describe what this "research" is.

Re: New ecstasy research
Yes and no. A long time ago i did a lot of research on it. During the reuptake of serotonin, amounts of dopamine in the brain have a higher chance of binding to serotonin receptors, which kills the receptor. It is something along these lines. Though, there aren't may drugs out there that don't cause brain damage, but certain precautions can be taken to slim the chances of this happening, such as. Predosing with 5-htp and other vitamins slims the odds.

Re: New ecstasy research
Total Bullshit. Some of the largest pharmaecutical companies are funding reasearch that show MDMA may infact have legitimate medical uses.
Seriously, I've taken MDMA over 400 times and that was years ago. I honestly don't feel it's hurt me in any way, in the slightest degree.
Wait until Merck or Upjohn pantents it, it's illicit use declines and then we'll see just how "damaging" this substace is to people. Like all illicit drugs: if they're not making money off of it...it is satan.

But, it WAS conclusive, thats the thing. And it was an independent group, no connections to the government.

Re: New ecstasy research
anti-freeze is right, vitamins are a druggies friend.
Too right back in the day when they wern't adulterated with laxatives and anything else they found in the toilet.
Did anyone read this months mixmag about the 1 pill?
I suppose this is what ruins alot of drug expereinces for people, cutting everything to make more money.
lol its not like the cocaine cartels have the same policy for customer satisfaction as tesco.

Re: New ecstasy research
most of the brain damage caused is by overdosing.... That comes from ravers or simple dumbfucks who can't think to not pop several more times than what someone tells them too....

Re: New ecstasy research
Hey everyone, this is an interesting slideshow about how x works: http://www.dancesafe.org/slideshow/
For the record I am not anti-x, but I think it's important for people to understand the risks.
