Making Crystal
1.] What do you all think of the Old Acidmelt synth on Chemhead? Is it safe and reliable? Are poisonous fumes generated?
2.] Can I substitute an electronic stove for the burner?
3.] "Every few minutes pick up the flask and shake and stir it up a little" How do you stir the mixture while the rubber stopper is on. AcidMelt, do you mean to stir it by waiving it in a circular motion?
4.] "Now dump a little d-H20 into the flasd. Dont let to much into the flask just a little" How do I know how much water to use.
Sorry for all the questions. Thank you all!

Re: Making Crystal
the Old AM synth is just fine. Reliable = everything on chemhead is tried and true Safe = As safe as can be for a synth. Great for a Newbie in the right country no good down under. the pills suck electric stove = fine no open flame 3 stiring = "pressumtion here" I would think you would stir it any way possible 4 Water = well sorry cant help you there. Perhaps you would be better off asking over at chemhead anyway??????

Well labs usually use a stir plate with stir bars. The plate looks like a hot plate [some even have that built in]. Stir bars are just plastic coated bar [round] magnets. YOu put the bar in the flask, then seal it [or not, and put it on the stir plate. The plate has a motor under it that spins a magnet that makes the magnet in the flask spin, stiring the contents of the flask. [I don't need anyone to tell me that they can't get one: I was only saying this to show how you can stir while the flask is sealed.] Besides, if you read what was writen: "Every few minutes pick up the flask and shake and stir it up a little". You migfht find that it is just saying to shake the flask to stir it up....
