Making a good quality pipe
Does anyone know how to make a good quality pipe, without a kiln or glass blowing experience?

Re: Making a good quality pipe
just buy one, they're about 6 here, about $9 for you? i'd say make your own bong, use the chillum from the pipe and all you need is a section of tube to be the downpipe, then just find a 2 litre bottle and melt it's shape a bit, with some time i managed an ice twist, it's a hell of a lot cheaper than the ones you can buy.

Re: Making a good quality pipe
......yeah just buy one but in my homemades I use sockets for the bowls with some screen in the bottom and then a metal pipe for the stem but you could use some metal toilet tube(s) and if you shave all the paint and plastic/glue stuff off of a bottle cap (metal....of course) and punch it down and poke some holes that makes a really cheap very small bowl...have fun use whatever you find

Re: Making a good quality pipe
it wont be the prettiest but you can make pipes out of piping material found at home depot. just walk around looking for what could be used. like little caps, screws, random things. just look. or you could find a head shop and buy one! or even buy a stem and bowl and make a bong out of a piece of clear plastic tubign they sell at hardwear stores, plus some sort of ring to go around the bottom which they probably have. (the tuibign they sell at a store near me is for the dust extraction systems small shops would have)
just look in hardware stores

Re: Making a good quality pipe
As Cobranaut said, "use whatever you can find" ... i don't know about everyone else but spending 30 on a bong that can be made for little over 1 seems like a waste of 29 - or half an ounce. for a pipe, i forgot the can pipe, take an aluminium can, puta bowl-shaped dint in one side, poke some holes in with a pin...there you go. I'm sure you can vary this sligtly as you'd like but it works well. (you could make the opening wider and put ice in? - i havn't tried it but maybe...)

Re: Making a good quality pipe
putting water in the can wouldn't work... but normal can pipes work in a pinch
anyway, my friend made a couple pipes out of stone, we made a huge steam roller that didn't hit hard at all out of 1/2" piping, damn i can't think of a homemade style pipe we haven't made other than a magic lamp pipe...

Re: Making a good quality pipe
You don't have to have a lot of experience or equipment to make good glass pipes. They are more suited to crack or crystal than pot, but if you blow them right they work for pot too. All you do is get a propane torch, the kind that screws onto a can of propane. Then get some test tubes (must be pyrex), I get them by the dozen at a local science store. They must wonder what the hell we're doing with them all, but they probably know damn well what we're doing with them. You can also order pyrex tubing and rods online to do really slick work. But the easy way is to fire up the torch, hold the test tube by its open end (use heat proof glove) and hold its bottom end in the flame. Turn the tube back and forth between your fingers as you do this. After a while the glass will start to get soft and start distorting while you turn it. That means you've heated it up too much. Heat it to just before that point, then, while still turning the tube continually back and forth, blow gently into the open end (it shouldn't get hot) and remove the tube from the flame while still blowing. The glass will balloon out into a ball until it breaks through in some spot. While the glass is still hot use metal things to poke at it (like a screwdriver or something) and shape it any way you want. Or it can be used as is. Just enlarge the openening in the ball a bit and use as is for crystal, insert brillo for crack. To make a glass pot pipe is a bit more difficult, but with practice you can make them in a couple of minutes. Heat as before, but when blowing the glass ball don't keep blowing until a hole pops in it. Instead, let it cool a bit, then hold one side of the ball in the flame and don't turn the tube like before. When the side you are heating gets soft use your tools to push a section of the ball inward to form a bowl. Then poke a small hole or two in the bottom and you're done. Once you learn how to make these pipes, you can play around and make really cool stuff with coloured glass and hotter torches. Glass blowing is not as hard to do or get into as most people think. It's fun! I no longer use pipes like this but I still like to make one once in a while to give to one of my junkie friends for five bucks or a doobie or something. Have fun.

Re: Making a good quality pipe
Funny story: I knew a guy who smoked a lot of weed in high school. One day, he made a bong out of a Pepsi can and smoked out of it. A jogger came by and said, "That'll give you cancer!" This same guy also once went to every sink in the school attempting to locate a screen. He found that NONE of the sinks had a screen.

personally when I make a homemade pipe (basically never anymore) I try my utmost to stay waaay the hell away from three things Copper Aluminum and Plastic. Glass really is the way to go!

you can tell the differance between metal and glass pipes, though when making your own pipe not most people have the resources to make a good glass pipe

whoa... do you put holes in the bottom, the bud inside and light the bottom like you're sucking upwards? that's pretty creative

Re: Making a good quality pipe
I suppose this topic is a little old, but, don't try to make a glass pipe. A good glass setup should cost, oh, say, over $1000. Easily. Glass colorants and raw materials are not too expensive, but I'll be damned if I know where to find them. You'd be better off making one out of metal.

Re: Making a good quality pipe
Why hasn't anyone written down the old-fashioned apple pipe? Also works with pears. Hollow out a tube-shaped opening in an apple in kind of an L shape, so there's one hole to suck out of and one hole to put the herb in. Enlarge the opening of that hole so it's in a bowl shape. Throw in some tinfoil (burn off the shiny side first, it really does give you cancer), poke some holes, and voila, an apple pipe! It adds flavor as well and your weed will taste very sweet.
