dry ice- get it at a specialty store (here we have the ice butler and halloween shops that carry it)

it's carbon dioxide in solid form...

It's cheaper to get it from an industrial source. Usually any place that sells gasses [oxygen, nitrogen, etc.] will have dry ice. You can even look in the yellow pages under dry ice [well you can in the Bay Area, at least]. Companies like Praxair or Aitrgas.
The lab I manage goes through about 300lbs a week.
