i said possessing/buying/picking shrooms, not growing them! few people here in the us can honestly say they want cannabis for botanical purposes. try proving beyond a reasonable doubt that the pound of bud in your car door is just to study the leaf patterns or something!

under u.s. laws, they cant just arrest someone for shroom possession, unless it has probable cause to be drug-related. like if some old bitch went out in the woods picking portabella mushrooms (the kind on pizza), and accidentally picked up a couple that contained psilocybin, and got caught by a pig on the way home with 50 "normal" mushrooms and 2 "good" mushrooms, she probably wouldnt go to jail over it. there are specific circumstances relating to specific laws, and they may be different in some areas. check your local books before ordering any. i think erowid has some info on federal laws worldwide somewhere in their shroom vault.

yeah i think canadian laws are easier than us ones, and like in the example above, there have to be certain circumstances to have the laws apply. so in brantford ontario you could legally (but still suspiciously) have a pound of spores, until they grew up some but in nashville tennessee, a pound of spores would be really damn suspicious, and probably put me away for a while. a long while.

so: having a few shrooms (maybe less than 1/8?) could land you in jail, if a cop found them dried up in a plastic baggie or something sketchy like that. but the same amount could mean nothing if it was thrown in with a bunch of legal mushrooms, appearing as if you had picked some by accident.

and: having a company send you a kilo of amanitas from russia might be a little "un-botanical sounding", but if you have a good enough reason (like you make and sell herb teas or something) it might be just fine. ordering an ounce or less is not unordinary for many people to do for non-recreational purposes. a whole lot of people have studied spore prints for real reasons, and if you can act like one of them then you're fine. so it is fairly safe to get into.
