That would be a truly massive road flare. The phosphorus is in the striking cap. It serves as a source of ignition the same as it does for matches. It takes suprisingly little to light a flare.

don't mean to poop on your party, but there isn't nearly that much RP in a flare. It is much cheaper to get it from matches than flares.

my father had some red tiped matches, that were not the srike on anything matches, is this redphos? btw i tried scraping some stike plates maybe i did it wrong, but almost nothing comes off, dose it have to be a certain brand of matches:?

u gotta soak the striker pads in acetone then they rub right off.. then its just a matter of filtering and cleaning up your mbrp
