!*!*! A serious Question !*!*!
I have 2 serious questions! ok plz dont think im srazy and shit, im serious... this is a question to what you think you might know the answer to immidatly but try to think a bit deeper about it though!
here coms: Why do people that are not in favour of it, consider drugs a bad thing, and look down upon it? And why, on the other hand, do most of these people not took down at alcohol?

I dont get it either, alcohol is sure to kill a lot more people than weed. I think they should sell weed at stores, like Malborojauna

Re: !*!*! A serious Question !*!*!
well, i would say there are a couple of reasons.
1. it is breaking the law. while you may not (and i may not) see the law as a decent reason to do something, others do. you just have to accept that being a black sheep in society means that you wear your wool. if ya get what i am sayin. you must deal with the consequences.
2. it destroys your body. i tend to laugh at ANYONE, no matter how learned they are, when they say, weed doesn't kill people. and? it still is self destruction. it may not kill a person, but it will do damage.
3. people use it as a way to deal with stress. that has negative connotations anyway.
4. There is no question that it is dangerous. Smoking is not a natural way of consuming any substance. Heavy smoking of marijuana has been shown exhaustively to be as dangerous or more dangerous than smoking tobacco. Like any type of smoke, marijuana smoke is pharmacologically active. The smoke itself, the tar and irritants and toxins and all sort of different things that have nothing to do with the reason why people smoke marijuana, which is for the euphoria - they're all problematic.
5. Infection - Researchers at the recent American Association for the Advancement of Science meeting in Washington presented findings from animal studies that showed cannabinoids markedly altered helper T cell production of cytokines, which are important to resistance of infection. More disturbing, they provided strong experimental evidence that marijuana and other opiates may be co-factors in the progression of infectious diseases.
6. Head and neck cancers - In a study conducted last year at New York City's Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, researchers determined that current and past marijuana smokers are at an increased risk of developing cancers of the head and neck. The first study to scientifically make the connection between pot and cancer, it indicated that the risk of head and neck cancer was 2.6 times greater among pot smokers than among those who had never smoked marijuana.
7. Lung cancer and emphysema - A study last summer out of UCLA offered up evidence that THC kills cells in the lining of the lungs. The researchers found that marijuana smoke is as strong if not stronger than tobacco smoke in generating free radicals, those naturally occurring chemicals that damage and eventually destroy cells. This report followed on the heels of another study that provided evidence that marijuana smoke was just as dangerous as tobacco smoke in promoting lung cancer and emphysema.
8. Heart attacks - In what was deemed a first-of-its-kind study, researchers found that the risk of a heart attack for middle-aged people is five times higher than usual one hour after smoking marijuana. THC speeds up the heart by about 40 beats per minute. Before this information itself gives you a coronary, understand that the baseline risk of heart attack for a 50-year-old male is one chance in a million per hour. After smoking a joint, the odds increase to five in a million. Several hours later, the risk recedes. Even so, some scientists maintain that smoking a joint is twice as likely to cause a heart attack as having sex or working out on a treadmill.
drinking, that just seems to hurt your liver and urinary/ exceratory system.

->"drinking, that just ->seems to hurt your ->liver and urinary/ ->exceratory system."
WRONG How about your entire digestive system. Alcohol is a solvent, it dissolves things. One of the biggest things it dissolves is lives. Even people that have nothing to do with alcohol sufer from it. The only reason alcohol is legal is because people went on a riot when they outlawed it.
Alcohol can't be used as a medicine. It was in the past but we have better things now. Marijuana has many medicinal uses. It has even been found to help fight cancer. These findings were done by the same group that said marijuana causes cancer. I think people see illegal drugs as a worse thing because that's what their parents told them when they were growing up. Others see they are bad because they grew up in a harsh environment around drugs. Most people will tell you drugs are bad. So many people can't be wrong; right?

Re: !*!*! A serious Question !*!*!
i apreciate your long anwer Bar room hero. yet i think my original question got a bit misunderstood by ya all. i was kinda stoned at that time so maybe thats why (look at the deep thinking part) i was not trying to ask: why people think weed is bad and alcohol good but more like: why do people think drugs are "evil"?(please exclude things such as heroin) and i dont mean it like: cause its illigal! i mean: why is it illigal in the first place?then comes the next question; and why isnt alcohol considered a drug of the same catagory?i just wanna hear peoples opinions about this topic, cause i think, atleast for me, this is one of mankinds (or should i say current civilisations) great mysteries
