Unprotected Sex
If you had unprotected sex with someone, several times, then you went and got tested, for the first time (after several previous unprotected partners), and you found out you had an STD, would you say anything to the most recent sexual partner? Would you expect them to say anything to you if the roles were reversed?
One more:
If you knew you were clean before this partner, and had reason to believe they were infected, would you get a test? And if so, and it came up positive for anything, would you bring it up with them, no matter how amiable or mutually embarassing the breakup?
I'm not talking HIV or Syphilis, here, I chiefly mean a curable, nuicance-type disease, though the concept of a person being infected with HIV and then being too embarassed to mention it to the other person is interesting, if only from a behavioral psychologist's point of view...
Thoughts?

Re: Unprotected Sex
I would tell them, if only for the reason that I can't think up any point in not telling them.

Re: Unprotected Sex
If you are Having unprotected sex, you get what you deserve, I would complain to my partner and maybe teach'em a lesson for being an asshole and giving me an STD in the first place.

Re: Unprotected Sex
Reasons you wouldn't (not shouldn't):
1. You're not together, in fact there is mutual bitterness, anger, or maybe hatred which makes it easy to say "fuck them."
2. If you tell them, they'll blame you immediately, whereas if you don't, they might think they got it from someone else.
3. If you had the test after you'd already "broken up" with them, maybe even months later, with intermediate partners (protected, but you can never be 100% sure about that stuff), why would you WANT to tell them? What's to gain, besides grief?
And don't act like having unprotected sex is soooooo dumb. It happens. Girl on the pill, guy know's he's clean (and trusts her). Sometimes, your brain loses out to your groin. And you usually end up regretting it.
In case you were wondering, my case isn't exactly like this. The main question is, if you thought someone had infected you, and you had a means to get in touch with them, would you?

Re: Unprotected Sex
Add:
And would they be truthful if you accused them of infecting you? In the real world, people tend to deny, lie, and obfuscate, not fess up and ask for forgiveness.

Re: Unprotected Sex
Of course they would not be truthful about knowingly infecting you, because with todays laws you could probably get away with sueing them. And there are the few sick people out there who spread the disease around intentionally.
You might actully meet the one person who will fess up to it but it might be a 1 in a million shot.

Re: Unprotected Sex
Even if you have a problem with that person you may have gotten the STD from or given it to, there's still the people that person is now boffing who will catch it and pass it around further. You already know perfectly well that it can happen.. do you think those people deserve to catch a disease just because they're screwing someone you don't get along with? You could say they deserve it if they're having unprotected sex, but it's a bit hypocritical at that point.

Re: Unprotected Sex
In the first instance, no one should be bonking without protection - no glove no love. If you do get it on with a casual sex partner and don't use a rubber, you are a fool. None the less, we are all human and accidents happen, and one could end up with an STD. If you regulalrly have unprotected sex, it is a good idea to get tested regularly - after all, who wants that burning pain as a constant companion If you find that you are infected, you really should get the word to the suspected carrier, even if you do it via "channels". The sooner someone is aware of the problem, the easier to cure and the less the potential damage - and in the case of HIV/AIDS, early dtection means that you can extend your life almost indefintely with ART/HAART. So even if you hate the bitch/bastard, and if some of these things really set in, you will, get the message through - what they do from then onward is their issue.
