My missus has her 24th birthday coming up soon, and what she really wants is a KITTEN?

If i get her a kitten she'll love it, cos she's mental about them, but a lot of my female friends have said that if i get her a cat then I'll be the biggest shit in the world if we break up in anything less than six months. Also, she's as scatty as the kitten will be, and may well put it in the washing machine by accident, or lock it in a cupboard, so i'm worried about the cat as well.

Opinions??

get her the kitten she won't hurt it! and do you plan on breaking up with her?

How long have you been seeing her ?

If its les then 3 months, I suggest getting her a toy cat (MUCH safer for you, her and the cat).

If you're already worried about what happens when you break up... either you're a maticulas planner or... something is bugging you about this relationship and its probably not going to last that much longer. Have a think about it.

We've been seeing eachother 8 months. All is going well, and I'm very happy. It's just that I'm male ( and hence generally shit at these things) and, even though I'm noty planning on splitting, being told I cant means that i don't like it.

I think it's one of those things that guys get, and women shout at.

Kittens are awesome, and if it's what she really wants, you'd be awesome for getting it for her.. If you break up, you break up, and lets face it, any guy that breaks up with a girl is basically gonna be considered a shit by her REGARDLESS of whether or not you bought her a kitten..

If you get one though, please please don't buy one from a petstore.. there are so many adorable (and much cheaper) animals that need homes that can be adopted.

I would, at this moment, like to point out that you're considering buying a kitten for a girl, and that the guys say no and the girls say yes.

I'm curious about this logic, though- if you buy *her* a kitten, then you two break up, *you* will wind up with it. How exactly does that work? If it's a friendly (for lack of a better word) breakup, then there's no reason she wouldn't keep the cat. If it's ugly, then I'd think it more likely she would keep the cat to keep it away from "that low-life scum sucking etc etc asshole" than want to make you keep it because it reminds her too much of you or some other thing.

be firm with the kitten though, when it bites or scratches lightly tap its nose, if it continues to do so hold it down lightly but firmly. It may be cute for a kitten to gnaw at you but as the cat grows the novelty wears of quickly.
