Love of my life dumped me for the wrong reasons?
My boyfriend is a scout sniper for the USMC ... We were going out for about 8months last year and I dumped him b/c I was having alot of problems and i didn't need/want him worrying about me or anything like that. Well we just started going back out, and I honestly never stopped loving/caring about him and he said he never stopped either.
Well we'd being going back out for about .. 1 month and one of his marines went out and got MESSED UP .. his blood alchol level was something like .2 and he got a DWI... well my boyfriends CO called him in after they got the marine out of jail and told him that his preformance has been slipping and that he's been slacking for the pack couple weeks (right around the time i entered the picture..) So he called me lastnight and told me what had happened and we both new it was my fault, the only thing was, i was the one stupid enough to bring it up. Neither of us could think of any other way for him to get his "edge" back except for him to stop caring about me/ANYONE .. so he dumped me .. and I begged, OMG did i beg him not to do it... but he said that it was too hard for him to do what he does for a living and do it well with the thought of me in the back of his mind all the time. So we hung up, and I know that i wont ever talk to him again .. and my temporary solution to my problem was to get wasted and i did .. but now im sober.. and wondering if there was another solution, and if he did the right thing .. so could ya tell me what you guys think?
tanks bunches,

Re: Love of my life dumped me for the wrong reasons?
Your poor thing! Omgthats really quite dreadful. I just hope youll be ok and that you wont get wasted again. There is no person in this world worth doing things like that over. TRUST MEIve seen a lot of relationships come and go but none no matter how deep will ever be worth harming myself. I dont think there was anyway to make that relationship work though. If this guy isnt willing to change his life for you then its not something that was meant to last. There will be others and Im sure youll find someone to love and be loved by just as much. ^_^ take care hun!

If you have both said how much u care for each other, and u both want each other badly enough, it'll happen.
He mite have broke it off, but think about it, he wasn't exactly cool, calm and collected. There was a lot of shit going on in his head, and he mite not have thought it through properly.
If u were meant for each other, u will get 2getha.

Re: Love of my life dumped me for the wrong reasons?
theres something I would try. Being best friends. Telling him, that you should deal with it this way, and maybe one day hell be able to work with the love he found. Sometimes it scares people, what feelings can do to them, and they try to flee. Sometimes it scares people, that someone could love them too much.
Understanding is the primary target of a relationship.

We tried that last time we broke up, it didnt go over well. b/c all either of us STILL kept thinking about was eachother .. its like no contact wut so ever or we cant help ourselfs. Its like when we're around eachother we both just wanna cuddle and holdeachother .. and we KNOW we cant do that.. so yeah

You know it's possible there's nothing you CAN do.
Accept the situation, hope it changes, but really, I don't see what solution there is, if he's not willing to leave his job.
The longer you go without contact, the easier things will get, hopefully.
Sucks, but that's life.

Stoicism seems to be invaluable in such situations.

This is why signing up for the armed forces can be a very bad idea.
One of many reasons, at least.
I'm guessing he's got a lot of time left to serve if you have to give up the ship.

well, I mean, its nice to find someone which feels the same way, too, and that its kind of broke your wings, but you cant live this way all of your life. You need to live a real life and a real relationship, endless love is fleeting for the secularized noneternals.

No accually he doesnt ..he has one more year, which will be served in .. Japan .. we had a friendship/relationship thru his entire enlisting up until now .. Japan just fuck us up MAJORLY.. And whats worse is .. we talked about it (before we broke up) and he's just going to re-enlist until retirment (i dont remembe how long its gonna take .. something like 16years or something) .. i mean I know thats being able to retire early AND very comfy but .. if he's still in the marines i dont think there is any way for us to salvage even a friendship, b/c as of now i kind of have this bitter-you took my boyfriend from me you assholes outlook torward the marines and he knows it... I called his best friends house the other day .. and I told his best not to say anything to him(my ex) about me calling but told him to make sure that he stays out of trouble, and to take care of him.. I dunno .. im thinkin that it was kind of my way of throwing in the towel without really giving up ya know? b/c your right i cant stay pining over my ex forever, this happen for a reason i guess .. so yeah ya think i did the right thing?
