I was just wondering about how those two names/phrases came about. More specificly, with &Totse, where the & came from. Your thoughts are appreciated.

&totse is just "and the temple of the screaming electron" in acronym form

The & is there because TOTSE used to be a dialup BBS. Just like the # for IRC channels I believe...

A: Temple Of The Screaming Electron. When it was first created in 1989 it was called "& the Temple of the Screaming Electron," but the "& the" part was dropped in 1997 because it kept making the Internet crash.
