k for some reason this thought keeps comin in my mind like everyday. why am i on this planet?! wtf is the meaning of life (i kno noone knows the answer).

this is basically the ideal life. as most ppl c it. startin from hi-skool up.

go to skool, make friends, get a job, continu skool try to get a more high payin job, buy material items, get married+have kids (family) raise them, then u die. why does everyone see life like this?! theres gotta be more!

lol i dono why but i asked one of my stoner friends (which i think he was stoned when i asked him this) he said the pt is to experience everything like music and stuff. i dont think ive enjoyed life while being sober. (well not recently) but yea could any of u mayb help guide me again? cuz fuck i think i rather be dead to live such a boring life

There is no meaning to life man.You just are, i try and live my life by what makes me happy. If im doing something I dont like, and I know its a waist of time, ill go do something else. I dont know how to explain what im trying to say. You only live once, DO WHATEVER THE FUCK YOU WANT.

Mr. Smith, you fucking stole my answer. Most people's veiws of a sucessful life are what the government tells them, as Bleed listed, but not moi. For me, a sucessful life is one with freinds, good times, and not too much harm to the innocent, no matter what the means.

if you think life is all that worthless, why don't you go buy a high power semi-automatic assault rifle and go around killing everyone? why don't you take endless hits of acid and heroin? make life interesting so you don't have to thunk about things like that, buddy. have some fun!

That's the whole point. It's ineffable, you can do whatever the hell you like.. Life is the ultimate supermarket. You can choose whatever aisle you like and pay for the premium goods or take the cheap noname brand..

If you're that confused, become a philosopher. Smoke weed and philosophize. You'll feel better.


After a night of philosiphizing with a friend (I might have been intoxicated, but it was some good philosophy), he recommended that I read a book called "This is it" by Alan Watts. I think it's about 30 years old, you might be able to find it in Borders in the [religious/eastern religious/zen] section. I'm about halfway through...it's a good read.

I like to think that there is a God out there, and that he cares, so the point of life from that perspective ( if you really care, which you probably don't) is so that you can have an "afterlife" that is really cool...everything you want...now, you might say 'what's the use of an "afterlife"?' Well, I'd probably choose to live for a God that I have a belief exists and that i will go to a better place when I die, even if I have a fairly cruddy existence in this life. Because really, this life is really only temporary. (remember, this is if you believe in God) So basically it does create a meaning to life and everything...


btw, have you ever read the Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy? great book!

(remember, I'm not bible bashing....this forum has free speach and I know from experience that having a God really does put things into perspective, and give hope when there probably isn't any.)

i read the question about 3 hours. I have been on totse the whole time since, thinking about what the meaning of life or point of life was. i have thought about it many times, but usually just gave up thinking that it was a waste of time because their was no answer to be found until life was over. But for some reason i really wanted an answer this time, but now im more confused than ever. I DONT KNOW
