It's like America, 9 years ago.
I'd love to go myself, I just hate the idea of having to pay a ton of money for a damn passport. I've got relatives I don't even know in Norfolk. Thats where my family originated even.

Re: My Dream Is To Live In the UK!
It`s not that great you know. Much of it is a shithole. It`s not like anyone ever thinks it is, and it`s most definately not like they portray it on tv.
Erm... why Ipswich?! For the love of God!
Also, Ireland is actually a separate country.

Re: My Dream Is To Live In the UK!
to be fair, Britain really is nothing like the US, apart from the obvious, mixed ethnicity, same language etc.
And really, Britian is a terrible terrible conglomeration of countries in which to live, the government really is a shambles, and it won;t get replaced anytime soon, because the oppostion are a shambles, the governments policies, are unspeakably bad, espeically, in relation to education and employment and crime etc.
The ROI is a much better country, due to the much nicer people, and the much nicer scenery, but mmaybe that's just the old "grass is greener" speaking.

hay hay
You guys realised how people outside the UK really like it, or reckon that it is a safe place, but people inside the UK think it is a shit hole. Me included!!
Anyway, UK isnt that good, sure we have "better" drug laws (when i say 'better' I mean not as strongly punished, but we dont have as good explosive laws or road laws. We also dont have the ability to purchase dangerous chemicals.
In summery, move to Amsterdam!
Have fun Scazz

Re: My Dream Is To Live In the UK!
I really hate to break it to you and ruin all those dreams of yours but Dublin is the capital of Ireland (Eire) which is not and hasnt been for a long time part of the UK. Ipswich is in England and I really hope you didnt think it was a country in its own right. If you are 3rd gen Irish and your family from Dublin you should be aware the chances are the reason your family went to America or wherever was to escape the English Rule in Ireland at the time. If its Ireland you want to go to and have family descending from Dublin you can find out all you need to know about them in the national library in Kildare Street, Dublin2. Im sure they have a web site that can help with genaeology etc. And if you do come to Dublin for your own sake dont let anyone know you referred to Ireland as part of the UK as most will just laugh if said to the wrong person in the wrong context you could end up really offending a member of the IRA and loosing a kneecap or two. Ha I jest of course but seriously it could cause offence to the wrong person.

The united kingdom? Common man...its no different from detroit...its dirty, graffiti everywhere and the girls are UGLY....i dont know but i guess that the ancestors of England were ugly and the uglyness spread...i mean the only hot english girl i know about is Elizabeth Hurly...My friend went there last summer, he talked abou how ugly every girl was and that the only attractive ones were the black girls...But he said that in France that there are tons of attractive girls...go to England urself and try and find an attractive girl ur age...its IMPOSSIBLE..just move to france, they are similar...

Re: My Dream Is To Live In the UK!
I quite like England. Well sort of. Its a good place to live (as opposed to Germany or any european country). Everything costs more in Britain though, especially in southern England and especially in Cities. I live in Milton Keynes, the concrete capital of the world. Everything is drab and artificial, but back in my home town (a little place and away from MK) there are fields everywhere and forests, also you can find some breathtaking vistas (if you know where to look). You can sit atop a hill and stare at the country side, seeing it stretch for miles. If the weather is good then you could go camping out in the wood and if the weather is bad you could go round peoples houses and drink booze bought from the lax off-licenses. England isn't all good though, for a while i lived in near Dover (probably Englands biggest port) and its where all the imigrants sneek in. I lived in a crappy neighbourhood and there was crime, violence and on a saturday night totally anarchy. The United Kingdom has a good balance of good and bad, just as any other 1st world country does but i wouldn't want to live in the US or somewhere like that. Not for any reasons that you hear in the news like shootings and crime but because i like living within a reasonable distance of my family. I know that if everything goes tits up then i can always goto my parents or family for support. If i lived half way around the world from them then i wouldn't have that safety net.
qwerty316- maybe you should think how you'd feel if you were in England and everything went wrong. Say you ran out of money and ended up with no one for support, where are your lifelines (your family)? Half way around the fucking world, far away and unavailable for help.

Re: My Dream Is To Live In the UK!
I'm sort of new to this message board but anyway, this thread caught my eye. It actually made me chuckle since for the past 3 years I have been attempting to move to the US! Whoever said it was right- talk about the grass being greener! I guess when you're in an exciting new place you don't notice the graffiti, litter and pollutions (etc.) until the novelty has worn off.
I'm from Lincoln, a smallish city in the midlands.(NOT Nebraska) It's quite pretty out here; we have a gothic cathedral, castle and plenty of rolling green landscapes but other than that, there's not a whole lot of much for those amongst us who aren't really history enthusiasts.
I'm praying for the day when our government collapses but dreading it also because the opposition are just as bad, if not worse...New Labour has become Old Conservative. *sigh*

I'm eastern in origin, whatever that means anyway, lots of countries are east of britain. You want me to fuck off, come make me. i was born in this country, I'm not lazy, i don't have a criminal record.
and if you want to live in britain, thats fine, its not exactly the most exciting place on earth though. British women aren't ugly, as a matter of fact, when i was in america, i didnt see many good looking women. Actually it was a struggle to find a woman who wasn't very fat. that being said, i found the americans quite nice people generally, and also nothing like they're portrayed on TV.
And i find it weird americans say 'aluminum'. Aluminium' makes more sense. its got an 'ium' for cryin out loud! Like uranium, sodium or whatever. Why dont you guys say 'sodum', or 'plutonum'??

Re: My Dream Is To Live In the UK!
I live in the UK but i'd love to live in America. I live in North London. Some things about britain are good but others suck. There's a lot of crime in my area and in a lot of the areas white is a minority. There are so many illegal immigrants. i have nothing against black people (i have loads of black friends) or chinese people (i have friends too) but i fucking hate the illegal immigrants. They're all middle aged men who don't work and just sap off our once great country. 1 in 60 people in Britain is an illegal immigrant! I got those numbers from the paper. no1 can deny that most of the crime in areas is caused by illegal immigrants. I'd love to move to America where illegal immigrants get deported instead of being given shelter food and money.

Re: My Dream Is To Live In the UK!
I reckon we do alright. no vicious/poisonous animals or extreme weather to kill you. Beautiful scenery, steeped in history. Fairly lax law enforcement, widely available recreational ds and as a bonus, were cut off from the rest of europe by a good stretch of sea. Although you can fly to amsterdam or paris within an hour for 50.
The immigrants are a pain. Even the ones whove been here a generation refuse to assimilate and then wonder why we havent taken them to our hearts. Of course weve got gangsters, young scallies and crime like everywhere else. Weve got heroin and crack problems. The government is a joke and we DO get overcharged for everything.
But hey-ho. I like it.
PS I LOL at the dude from Tennessee calling us backward! silly cunt

Re: My Dream Is To Live In the UK!
lol@ Tex-ush. That's probably one of the American states I'd least like to go to!
There is a big problem with illegal immigrants here, yes, although they're not all just sponging off our government. I actually work with one. If he was simply a sponge who sat around and collected benefits all day I would have reported him by now but as it happens he works a hell o a lot harder than most of the white people I know, is unfailing generous with the little money he has and the rest gets sent to his family in Bangladesh. If people are prepared to work for it, I don't see why they shouldn't have the chance of making their lives a little better.
I get the point about assimilation though, althugh the only point that annoys me is the issue of the language. I'm very conscious of the language when I'm visitng other countries and always try to make an effort. Those who MOVE here and don't even bother to try and learn anything really piss me off. However, on the other side of the coin, I don't think Gordon Brown's proposals of making immigrants speak english for so much time in ther home. Whatever they speak there should be their own business.

Re: My Dream Is To Live In the UK!
England ain't such a bad place compared to most european countries. If you like ecstacy and acid then England is also the place for you.
Most coppers when it comes to drugs will leave you even if your buzzing your tits off on pills or having a spliff. (or rop half your stash)
London has some beautiful buildings, you can see alot of history through our architecture, from the roman period, edwardian, victorian right throught to present day.
Our government is a shambles but if you grow up in a shitty area there are still opportunitys to make a better life for yourself. I am living proof
People winge about healthcare but at least its still free, but everything is so bloody expensive.
Though I can see how bad this country is getting, lol getting as shitty as America.

Re: My Dream Is To Live In the UK!
canada has the same governmental probs as britian, just move there cause in vancouver and most other larger-giant cities 1 in 4 houses has a grow up i think england doesent make immigrants conform like the americans did. i mean, there arent too many indians or anything here without work, theyre just feeling opressed because of propaganda and steryotyping. i have lots of indian friends, and theyre all living in shitholes because of some of the subtle biggotry. this biggotry makes indians look lazy, but its just that the indians are afraid of the biggotry or something. its a viscous circle, even though most people are blue-coollar around here. there isnt as much bullshit as there was even 10 years ago against indians, but its still there, very subtly.
