Maybe to prevent the nuking start is to nuke the one trying to start it first.

Re: Bombs over Baghdad
Oh, woohoo, we're the most powerful nation in the world. That depends entirely on how you define power. We've got bombs and tanks and all manner of scary shite, but the important thing to remember is that you cannot rule people that simply refuse to be ruled. Look at Afghanistan right now. We threw the Taliban out of power in no time flat. But now, we're the new enemy that all the warlords hate. They're preparing for a general uprising, and with most of the country behind them, there ain't a goddamn thing the 10th Mountain Division can do about it. The same thing is happening in Iraq. We're going to go in and smash the hell out of their army, and I'm sure Saddam will be unceremoniously dealt with. So what does that solve? Saddam can't build weapons of mass destruction, but then, he wasn't gonna use them as anything but a deterrent anyway. We've got vast new oil reserves, but it's awfully hard to put oil on tankers when guerillas keep attacking the pipelines and refineries. So what the fuck will it all get us? Thousands of troops consigned to garrison duty, billions of dollars spent occupying the country, and a white-hot rage from the Arab world that will be entirely justified. The sooner we realize that America was meant to lead the world not by force of arms, but by our EXAMPLE of a free republic, the better.

Re: Bombs over Baghdad
Armed&Angry stresses a good point.....I don't want to point any fingers but everytime I see someone say "USA is the shit, no one can fuck with us! We have nukes, huge armies, bla bla bla"...It just sounds plain ignorant....yes we are on top because of our technological advances....but another reason we do so well is because of how we run things here....we like to focus on economics more than ruling the people....and anyways we still got fucked with doesn't 9/11 ring a bell?....we're not untouchable........

Re: Bombs over Baghdad
Whatever you think is going to happen in Iraq has already been going on for years now. Since 1993 60,000 men, women, and children have died because of US missiles. The only added bonus is that we might overthrow the government and continue with our mission to spread democracy.

No you lot just think you are, maybe if you had a half decent leader you would be. I mean if Clinton or G Bush sn. were stil in power Sadaam would have given up the weapons but he sees Bush the same way the rest of the world do as an oil hungry muppet that doesnt know the capital of his own country never mind the ones he visits. How can the most powerful nation have a voting system that lets the guy with the least amount of votes win especially one who has brain damage from all of his alcohol and cocaine abuse with his niece probably while she sat spread eagled in a thong he snorted it up off the crack of her ass. I know Clinton says he didnt inhale but that fuckwit Bush I think that could explain his problem not inhaling when hes supposed to (as in breathing) and inhaling toxic fumes from oil.

Defend ourselves? Terrorism is a continuing threat, and one that our so-called leaders freely admit they are virtually powerless to stop. So our ability to defend ourselves is far from absolute. Kill our enemies? Osama bin Laden, Mullah Omar, and the vast majority of the Taliban's upper echelons escaped into the wilds of Afghanistan, and continue to conspire against us with the aid of the country's prolific warlords. Did we manage to "kill our enemies" there? No? And what's our respons? Pick a new one. As for "feeding our people," compared to other countries on the planet, we do precious little of that. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing - once you start trying to repair an economy by sucking capital out of it and shifting it around, you're on a slippery slope indeed.

Re: Bombs over Baghdad
Well, besides all that technology stuff, and nukes that kill a lot of people (like we would ever use them, I would have erased N.Vietnam on principle, but the US does'nt use nukes anymore) we also have a large population so we have or can have a large force, and we actually train our military personnel. Being a veteran myself, I can say that training was most of what we did. One American or Canadian soldier is worth, like 450 Iraqi Republican guards personthingy. Besides all that, the war will not start until next year. Bushwhacked does not want to make the mistake of his father. That is, having a 91% approval rate that slides down to an election loss. It does'nt matter though, no matter the outcome of this "war" it will not effect the Bushwhacker's re-election. If he can't help the economy (Dow below 7,000 soon?) he is a GONER.

Re: Bombs over Baghdad
I have heard that November is going to be the attack time because of the weather in Iraq.
Personally, I am very much opposed to this attack due to my gut instinct.
I am a superstitous person and I have always been correct with my gut instinct. Also, many for-tellers(i.e. Nostradamus (sp?) the BIBLE) have predicted around the years of 2000-2010 A.D. will be the apocolypse.
so.....

Re: Bombs over Baghdad
Im all for it in principle, but it wont be finished, as soon as the "war" begins, terroism will strike everywere in the western world, its not a hard thing to do, think about it, if you were an evil bastard who didnt care wether you lived or died for your cause, how many people could you take out with you? Look at the sniper. If you had one in every major city, well your resources would be limited and alot of people would be dead and the rest wouldnt want to leave there house. Now imagine you can make explosives in your kitchen, quite possible, how many bombs could you place on civilian houses before you get caught? The resources at the hands of the government can catch one quickly, two fairly quickly, three not so quick, 100, well alot of people are going to be dead. Now think, one bomb placed on a train, boom! a few hundred dead, one person could place a bomb with a timer on alot of trains, busses, shopping centers before he was caught. USA wont be beaten with brute force, they will be beaten because the people cant hack the torture. Even if you nuke them, what about those already in the USA, those already in the western world, and then how many innocent people will die? Wars can no longer be fought in the way ww1 and ww2 were. There are no defined lines, no parameters to follow, the enemy is a changing, straight faced liar with no fear of death, the knowledge to produce explosives/deadly chemicals and the willingness to use that knowledge. How many primary schools/kindagartens(SP?) need to be blown up before your vote for the war on terror changes to against? Then youve lost, weve lost, How many hospitals need to blown away, (you create injured and destroy the facility in one blow), how hard is it to destroy an economy? its not as hard as you think, how many suicide bombers would it take to disrupt ports, airports, financial centers etc... With a thousand fanatics, you concentrate them on all of the above, the western worlds, arrogance, financial security, will to win and pride can be wiped out. Now nations know you dont need huge arsenals of weapons to defeat us, you just need angry people, and theres a hell of a lot of them. Im English by the way not American, I hate terroism, i would pull the trigger on Osama etc... myself, but i see it not ending problems, just creating them, a bit like pissing on wasp nest because one wasp sting hurts but doesnt kill you. Brains over braun, fight fire with fire to an extent, Dont go in with ten thousand men with guns in the hopes no on gets away, and no one shoots back. I dont know the way it should be done, but thats not my job, i just hope Bush and his men have thought it out, and blair has the sense to ask questions. The amount of propaganda, the timing of it, and the way the phsycology is being played against us (UK anyway) does give me some hope, at least there thinking a little bit. I highly doubt conscription will happen, but its a possibility.
PS is it just me but is it possible mr Bush is trying to gain respect (mentally) from his father by fighting his fathers war. Taking over from were he left off because he wants to continue his father. A bit like going to the cemetary and putting flowers on the grave, if you know what i mean. But its an honourable war and i hope we win with minimal loss, and i also hope England is there next to the US along with every other democracy in the world, though i am skeptical of its outcome, vietnaam ring a bell.
