I don't think the president can control pidgeons. This is a little ironic isn't it.

i would start by exercising my right to mobilize the military for 30 days without congressional consent and send forces to the homes of every congressman and senator in the united states forcing them to resign and subsequently apointing new politicians that would vote according to my wishes.

First week, here goes: 1. Grant amensty to the West Memphis Three and to Mumia Abul-Jamal. 2. Allow for broad and new research on stem cells. 3. Fund the shit out of Planned Parenthood. 4. NOT go to war with Iraq.

I would seriously attempt to make marijuana legal in all the states states. I would also grant amnesty to anyone who is incarserated for any marijuana related crime and had a non-violent record.

Re: What would you do/change if you became the president of the USA?
Quite a bit, actually, Ive been following the case since I first heard about it in highschool, approx. 3 years.
All drugs should be legalized really. But if you granted amensty (which morally should happen) you create a bit of a problem for yourself because alot of people in jail for "drugs" also had alot of other charges and pleaed (is that a word?) down to a drug charge....

Great! Let me add a more information. This thug killed a cop. This thug has many people making excuses, passing the blame, and pointing fingers at others...while all the time, refusing to say the he did not kill the cop. He is was convicted of felony murder and deserves to die. Do not loose sight of the big picture by trying to divert attention from the real issue (felony murder) to drugs. Nox

Re: What would you do/change if you became the president of the USA?
Here's the REAL big picture: 1. Jamal was grossly misrepresented by his public defender, who was in fact getting paid by the judge of said trial to make sure he was convicted. 2. This "thug" is a well-spoken, compassionate black journalist who happens to be extremely intelligent. (Ever heard his spoken word?) 3. You must not know that much about the case because almost every "witness" at the original trial has admitted they were harassed by policemen to say it was Jamal. Almost every piece of evidence that would have aided Jamal was thrown out of court.
There is reasonable doubt that Jamal killed that cop. His trail was illegal and unfair. He should recieve a new trail. Period.

Re: What would you do/change if you became the president of the USA?
Legalize growing and possession of marijuana for private home use.
Offer rehab programs for first time, non-violent drug offenders.
Decrease sentences for drug possession, increase sentences for rape, sexual assault, and child abuse/molestation.
All major highways 70 mph speed limits along with a seperate "Fast Lane" to be used only by police and emergency vehicles.
Eliminate Affirmative Action.
Use tax dollars to develop new alternatives to fossil fuels, and offer tax incentives to people who buy energy efficient hybrid and electric cars.
For every bomb i refuse to drop, i will donate half the value of the unused missile to a third world country.
Lift the trade embargo on Cuba, the missile crisis is long over.
Cut aid to Israel by 2/3 and redistribute the wealth to other places on the globe who actually need it.
So many things to do, and none of these ideas would be worth a shit to the present govt.

Yes, I've heard him. Assuming he has the positive descriptive adjectives which you attribute to him, how does that in any way make him not a killer? quote: Originally posted by lilymunster: You must not know that much about the case because almost every "witness" at the original trial has admitted they were harassed by policemen to say it was Jamal.
And those people have to live in their respective communities, do you expect less? I noted that you said almost. That is true...the rest of the almost do not live in their old hood and have not confirmed what you state. quote: Originally posted by lilymunster: Almost every piece of evidence that would have aided Jamal was thrown out of court.
Yes. Why? quote: Originally posted by lilymunster: There is reasonable doubt that Jamal killed that cop.
Not to me and not to the jury. Now for the worst part: Why has this thug NEVER denied killing the cop? Anytime I've ever been falsely accused, I hesitate not to let folks know that I didn't do it. But then maybe I'm neither intelligent nor articulate (Have you ever heard me speak?). quote: Originally posted by lilymunster: His trail was illegal
How so? (Yes, you meant trial) quote: Originally posted by lilymunster: and unfair.
Why? Because he was found guilty? quote: Originally posted by lilymunster: He should recieve a new trail.
No he shouldn't. (You meant receive and trial) quote: Originally posted by lilymunster: Period.
At least we agree about this. Nox

Re: What would you do/change if you became the president of the USA?
to do list for presidency:
1. move ALL our shit OUT of the middle east.
2. END drug prohibition entirely & put every DEA officer that has ever killed anyone in the line of duty behind bars while granting amnesty to all non-violent drug offenders.
3. smoke a blunt.

Re: What would you do/change if you became the president of the USA?
I could go through every detail to prove my point, but if you are truly interested and not just antagonizing me I would recommend you check out Amnesty International and freemummia.org. The latter may be biased but AI is a legit organization that is just trying to free political prisoners around the world.

I agree about the bias. As far as the AI involvement...Mumia is not a political prisoner. He is a convicted murderer. The only thing political is AI's opposition to the death penalty. The opposition does not qualify the thug Mumia for AI's charter, hence AI involvement. I am surprised that you cannot see the error of AI's involvement. Now if it is the death penalty that you oppose, then don't confuse the penalty with the crime. THE THUG IS A MURDERER. Nox

Re: What would you do/change if you became the president of the USA?
If i were president of the USA, i would promptly remove all army troops out of places like the middle east and war torn countrys. i would change the health care system and how people get paid for doing their health care job (the less they cost the government, the more they get paid regardless of wether or not they do their job properly). i would increase the sentances for all violent crimes. people would get mandatory schooling for being stupid.
there is sooo much i would do if i were president of the USA but i geuss it takes more than a president to get the things done.

Re: What would you do/change if you became the president of the USA?
If I was the president of the USA...
I would apologize to all countries that has been on the receiving end of US oppression (Cuba, Peru, Palestine, Nicaragua, any country who had a popular government that was overthrown by past arrogant US presidents)
I would cut military spending by about $200 billion
I would get rid of all US weapons of mass destruction
I would stop selling weaponry, training etc. to countries that use it to oppress/surpress people (ie Israel, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia etc.)
I would attempt to remove the demi-God status that a president of the US receives as soon as he/she is elected
I would institute socialism and fair trade
I'd tell Britain and Australia to stop sucking my dick
instead of invading every 'terrorist' country that dares have an independent foreign policy to the US I'd change my foreign policy so people would stop hating America
I would tell the US media to develop some independent thought
I would make it illegal for software to be released while it was still full of bugs
I'd offer subsidies for people releasing free software
I'd increase funding on education, health, social services
I'd repeal any legislation that took away civil liberties (the P.A.T.R.I.O.T. act for example)
I'd make the metric system the official system of measurements (in the US)
I'd cancel third world debt and increase foreign aid
I'd pay scientists heaps of money to develop cold fusion or something so oil doesn't have to be used.
I'd remove the thing in the US constitution that says that everyone has a right to bear arms, and offer to buy guns (obtained legally or not) off people.
I'd send everyone in camp X-Ray home and give Guantanamo Bay back to Cuba.
If I think of any more I'll post them.
EDIT: Made this post easier to read

Re: What would you do/change if you became the president of the USA?
do you know how fuct up the philidelphia police department is. thay have one of the worst records for a police dept. it written law to have a speedy and fair trial. in this country one is innocent until proven guilty (beyond a resonable doubt) the justice system failed here. i dont know if hes innocent, but i dont know if hes guilty either. teh point to mumia is to show just how the justice system CAN be corrupt. also his jury of peers were all white. and it does matter. The following are a few facts taken from the previously mentioned site. this shows this man was a victim of circumstance. * Other key witnesses, such as Veronica Jones -- who now testifies in support of Abu-Jamal, were harassed into giving false testimony. Two prosecution witnesses were given special favors, including exemption from criminal prosecution, for their testimony. The racial bias of Philadelphia's courts has resulted in 120 people on death row, all but 13 non-white. * The public defender didn't interview a single witness in preparation for the trial, and didn't have funds for defending a capital case. * William Singletary, a Vietnam veteran and local businessman, saw the whole incident and has testified that Abu-Jamal was not the shooter. However, the police forced him to change his story and intimidated him into leaving Philadelphia. * The policeman was killed with a 44 caliber gun. Abu-Jamal's gun which he was licensed to carry as a night-time taxi driver, was a 38 caliber.

Re: What would you do/change if you became the president of the USA?
Nox-- AI considers Jamal to be a political prisoner not only because of the racism lewser mentioned above (thank you!), but also because it is their belief that the philly police pinned this crime on him because of his former status in the Black Panthers. Jamal was involved in the BP when he was a mere 15. On his tapes he explains why he chooses not to make "I'm not guilty" his mantra. He doesnt believe he should have to say it over and over and that the truth will say it for him. Im glad you questioned why Jamal should be free. It gave me an opportunity to plea his case in answer to your opposition. Devil's advocates help us to find real truth, not just the truth we hope to find.

And the murdering thug still refuses to specifically state his innocence...and he has all you lackeys running around in circles. Pity.
What you imply about a devil's advocate is true, if someone is innocent.
Mumia is guilty.

Nox- Did you actually read my post? i explained why he doesnt rant and rave about his innocence.
You are definately entilted to your opinion, but how about instead of fighting with me about Mumia, lets come together on the West Memphis Three. (Anyone who doesnt know who they are PLEASE visit wm3.org!) thank you!
