think about this
From what I heard, in about 50 or less years oil is going to run out and we are going to become a thirdworld country, chaos will be everywhere. If you think your life is bad think of how bad its going to be for other people. Poverty will be everywhere, because lots of peoples jobs depend on oil. You won't be able to drive cars. Unless they start selling those electric cars for cheap. Let's just hope hydroelectricty, solar power, and whatever other forms of power we can make help us get through for generations to come.

Re: think about this
Oh yea and let's not forget the huge meteor that's probably gonna hit us in 20 yrs. Life's a bitch hey? A meteor 1 km big is said to have wiped out the dinosaurs. Its said this meteor caused a massive crater to form, we now call this place the "bermuda triangle". The one heading for us is much bigger then that. I'm not really sure by how much though. So yea we're probably screwed. Live it up people, now's the time to get off your computer and go enjoy life.
And yea I should've put this in green planet, but who gives a damn? Seriously? Who?

Re: think about this
Then again it's possible that the government has a backup source of energy that's 100% effective. But they're keeping it underwraps until oil runs outs. Because if companies stopped using fossil fuels many companies would go bankrupt and thus possibly corrupt the economy. Or so I think.

Re: think about this
we have alternative energy. but we won't develop it into anything useful because nobody wants to stick up to the oil giants. we now have a stealth helicopter that runs on hydrogen peroxide. it's not hard to utilize. hydrogen fuel cells are good too. both do not pollute, they're just either more expensive or more of a pain in the ass to get gas stations to carry and car companies to build for.

Re: think about this
I remember high school textbooks that said oil would have run out by the year 2000.

Re: think about this
Advances in technology mean that (1) new oil sources are found all the time and (2) oil consumption is more efficient, so I really don't think oil will run out anytime soon.
Besides, if a portable and (almost) free alternative power source was devised, what would be the point in oil?

Re: think about this
the point in oil, to the oil companies, would be to keep their jobs. and since they're all rich motherfuckers and good buddies with king dubbya, alternative energy will never be really profitable enough for it to become widespread.

Re: think about this
The doom and gloom crowd predicted we'd be out of oil by the mid-90's (as in 1990's).

Re: think about this
but think about how much technology has advanced in 50 years? They said in the 50's that everything possible has already been invented but there is always something new to be made. Within 50 years nuclear power will probably be controlled enough to be a main source of energy. Meteors suck ass and they probably have no idea about it. It'll most likely burn up or something. I dont tend to give it much thought, its not a high priortiy opn my agenda. Fuck it! ill just enjoy life and trying to get as much pussy as possible, heh heh

Re: think about this
1. Like people said, we will use other mean of power besides oil long before it runs out.
2. Canada, Russia, and Alaska has vast amounts of oil. We have yet to extensively drill there but the Middle East oil supply doesn't even compare to what we have left.
3. I understand that it was either the Gulf of Mexico or the Yucatan Peninsula that was created by the meteor hitting that area.
