However, if they did that, the amount of people coming on here would drop so much that it wont be worth it anymore. Sites like something awful did this, and their forum posters went way down.

I do believe if people were charged so many people would not register for the sheer cant be assed to give credit card details to a site that host files on hacking and scams.
