They just don't get it... Has money and fame ruined rock music in America...

I could go on and on....

Re: Why Can't America Make Great Rock Music?
The fact that good music has to come from the 'underground' really speaks volumes about the state of American culture.

Somehow, the White Stripes seem soooo incredibly eighties to me. In a good way, of course.

That's exactly what I ment. Dead leaves on the dirty ground is such a great song title. Good song too, though it gets played too much.

Re: Why Can't America Make Great Rock Music?
Sorry, but American rock is better than British... and I am British. Beatles nostalgia and "bed-wetting" rock don't really do it for me.

Re: Why Can't America Make Great Rock Music?
San Francisco used to be a haven for Great rock bands
Santana, Jeffersons Airplane, Night ranger, Y&T, Journey, Huey Lewis and the News, Testament, Metallica and the list goes on and on.
Although I personally like the Mod music from the UK the best we invented rock, punk rock and new wave and not the brits as they claim.

Re: Why Can't America Make Great Rock Music?
You wanna know why the music in America has gone to crap? 3 Simple letters M.T.V. I hate that fucking station, if it wasn't for that god damn station all the groups would actually play their own music, and write their on lyrics. Who's with me in saying those fuckin terrorists should have flown those plains into the MTV studios instead? Oh yeah, check out a couple bands: NOFX, Muse, American Head Charge, Hatebreed, Slayer, Primer 55, etc.
later guys
P.S. The other day a girl that likes me asked me if I wanted to go to an N'Sync concert, I replied, "Sure! If I can take my Gloc 9."

Re: Why Can't America Make Great Rock Music?
anybody who actually invokes pukes like Korn and Bizkit in this should be taken out, beaten, and forced to listen to only rock music produced between 67-74 for a year...
Come, Nirvava is gone, man, Kurt saw the music scene, and the man killed himself for it...
Metallica was good up until 'And Justice For All', then that stuff went sour...
You know, a few months ago, I saw Styx and REO SPeedwagon in concert, and it made me sad. It was sooooo good, then I thought, shit, where have all the good bands gone...
I agree, MTV went a long way to pushing good music underground, and paving the way for pretty boys with no talent and no clue what good music really is...

Re: Why Can't America Make Great Rock Music?
American underground Metal/Metalcore is very strong right now.
Bloodjinn, TheYearofOurLord, Hyde, CodeSeven, hopesfall..... Many more out there, and that's just Metalcore..... Of course we had to produce Limp Bizkit and make everyone hate us.
Rockstar: TheGloriaRecored is the shit.
EDIT: Yeah, European Metal is much better then any scene in America. If you all like metal take a look at some great Euro groups like: Caliban, HeavenShallBurn, The Haunted, Merser, Pray Silent...
