Default member vs. regular

i am obviously new to this site, and i was just wondering why under some of your names it says member, some moderator, and some regular. What seperates a member from a regular, is it time at the site or number of posts?

member = 1-49 posts
regular = 50+ posts
moderator = moderator of a section, no post count requirement.

i think that they should do away with postcounts. some people cannot handle a number that rises with each post and they start flooding the forums and inventing crappy 'post one word' topics. its really has no point.

oh look, im almost at 1000 posts.

Well it also helps the newbs know who here is a long time member, or some body who gives out lots of advice. Otherwise you could get morons who have posted twice giving out completely wrong information. Sure the registeration date would solve this but not entirely. Remember Mekhet? (Mekhet will now be Zoks primary example of all people/moderators who never posted)

hell yeah!! I am now a regular right? It took me just over a year, but i finally did it, FIFTY posts!!
Although i dont write much on totse, i think that the having something to know how often someone is posting is actually a good idea. It shows their participation at this site, and even if they only have stupid one word posts like "lol" or something it still shows that they at least read the topic. I think they should make even more groups- like one for 1-50 and then one for 50-100, then 100-500, and 500-1000 and 1000+ or something like that. THe date that they joined means nothing, maybe they filled the new user sheet out a year ago and forgot about the site this whole time and just now got back, they wouldnt know what the fuck was going on. But if you see someone with 500 posts or more you know that they have been active on this site.

wow ive been here for 9 months, doesnt feel like that long. Ive been lurking in totse BBS since 2000 though. I think post count is good, because it shows wiether or not yor active, when i go to see if i should trust someones advice, i look at post count, and when joined. If joined is like aug 2002, and they have 2000 posts, its probably all been spam. Nox is the exception.

i dont think post count is that much of a way to gauge how well rated a member/reuglar is. i remeber some of thes superkiller made and "i love poop", they had high post counts but werent always that inteligent

They only post when needed. And they are the only admins.

And post count does give you a better idea of the person's participation...
