Default The fuse is lit on the rocket sled to hell.

There I was, watching the news, becoming completely astounded at the goings on in the country, wondering just how long it would take for life as we know it to crumble into a smoky pile of slag.

For those of you who didn't see any of it:

1. The chief of police in Houston was suspended because his officers arrested 270 or so people for trespassing in a K-mart parking lot, just kids hanging out, but the kicker is he got suspended by the guy who told him to do it.

2. Some guy in Pennsylvania shot his friend for giving him a "wedgie", not exactly self-defense.

3. The "G" has decided to make reservists stay active for an extra year, fighting terrorism and all. Not to fear, I'm sure their regular jobs will still be waiting for them when they get out.

I'm sorry for having to break this post up into two posts, but there are times this website works like a piece of shit.

4. Dubya has his lawyers looking into whether or not he has to consult Congress on declaring war on Iraq. Seems to me there is something in the Constitution about that.

5. The police department in Wilmington, Delaware is found to have a database of 200 or so names of people who have no police record whatsoever, but since they are mostly minorities and live in bad areas of the city they are "believed" to be destined to commit crimes one of these days, so the cops are getting the jump on them with their names, addresses and photographs in a big file.

This wasn't all of the shit happening, but these were the biggies. Makes me want to start building the Ark II.

#1. That's part of the problem all cops have. They get told to do their jobs by politicains, but won't get backed up if there's a way the politician can get ahead by weaseling out of it.

#2. I'm sure there's people that are going to cry for more gun control. How about people control? Stupid people are alot more dangerous.

#3. The reservists called to active duty will have their jobs and all promotions or pay increases that would have come during the time they were gone. If not the business goes bye bye. They are also covered for their bills. If they get called to active duty, or active duty guys get deployed somewhere serious, their bills can get put on hold until they come back.

#4. The loophole that I have heard on that is that the cease fire from the 90s is thrown out because of sadam kicking out the inspectors.

#5. That city is setting itself up to get fucked up. A few good lawyers could turn that cities ass inside out.

Yep, the world is fucked.

I know what you mean, man. This world is going to shit. The whole middle east thing, Sept. 11, and thoughts of going after Saddam. WW3 here we come and that is no good. Then in the country we got police corruption all that stuff you mentioned. Hey Global Dominator I would join you in your but God said he would never flood the world like he did again so there is no point but you are right about the end of the world. Good Luck. Live well.

Democracy just means the stupid people rule. If we ask idiots to choose their representatives, then they'll just choose charismatic idiots. The Republic is a machine of self-destruction.

We should have blown Saddam away a decade ago.

Its perfectly legal for DubYa to do so. Reservist have something called a 2 year inactive duty. So he could have given them an extra year on top of that.

yeah. its not getting any better. No wonder why kids act the way they do today. I could keep adding the the misery list. The Government in the 1970s started fortifying cearels to make healthier soldiers errr i mean children.

it backfired. Children today are starting puberty as young as 9 where the natural age was around 13.

there was a junior highschool in LA some years back where 120 7th and 8th grade girl in just one school alone were knocked up in one year. most of them had a pack to see who could get pregnant before the school year was out. 7th and 8th grade.. think about that.

and of course 1 in 32 adults in the US will be in prison or arrested this year alone.

6 million prisoners an all time high.

then there is the rash of kidnapping and killings of small children. look at the asshole in oregon who raped his sons 13 year old girlfriend but before he was arrested for it the man had kidnapped 2 13 year old friends of his daughter and killed and burried them under cement in his backyard.

or how about the neighbor in San Diego who kidnapped a 9 year old and murdered her. He lived 2 doors down from the parents... got drunk one night and decided to climb in the girls bedroom and kidnap and murder her.

all of this while Suddam and or foriegn dictators are trying to make nuclear weapons to attack america.

Does anybody know how much of a difference there is between the amount of money a reservist makes on active duty and what they make on their job? I'll give you a hint, the last time military pay was anywhere close to the actual cost of living was 1972. Guess who the "G" is throwing into a financial hole of despair? Yeah, the guys who are supposed to be doing their best to protect the country, that sure would make me want to give my 110%.

Most active duty people make a decent amount of money, especially once you throw in the extra pay for housing and shit. I was making about $1700 a month when I got out in 2000, since then they've gotten a few raises. It might not sound like alot, but they knew what they were getting into when they signed the contract.

They signed a contract for one weekend a month and two weeks in the summertime, not for active duty. Yes, active duty was an option, but they served that option already. Now the "G" wants to screw them another year and they'll be fucked for at least two years or more beyond that just getting back to where they were three years ago.

$1700 a month isn't bad money, but when you were living on $2500 a month and your bills were equal to 2/3 of that what do you have now?

I'm just saying if the "G" has to keep those people on active duty so Dubya can make up for his father's fuckups that is blatantly wrong. If Bush Sr. hadn't been such a gutless bitch back when and finished the job his son wouldn't be screwing people who can't afford to lose everything they worked for just to save face for a rich man.

You failed to miss what he was saying. 1700 bucks a month is shit wages in California. But you are offered free room and meals igf you are single. Or section 8 Military housing if you are married. some bases have some really nice homes. Fort Ord in Moneterey has some decent houses. for like 300 bucks a month. Or it may even be free depending on the situation.

so you put your money in the bank for 4 years and you will have a nice fat down payment on a house when you get out.

And for the other person who said They "singed up for 1 weekend a month and 2 weeks a year" is during peace time. Read the fine print. In case of war they are subject to full active duty. If you dont want to go to war then join the Coast Guards and protect your homeland.

Reservists know when they sign up that they may be called to active duty. They are told that before they sign the contract.

Let me see if anyone gets it this time. The reservists already did their year of active duty, Dubya is screwing them for another, that is two years on active duty, two years of less pay than their regular jobs, two years of trying to make a house payment on less money than you were making when you took the mortgage on the house in the first place. Some may be in base housing, but what about the guys who already have a house, kids in school, car payments, utilities, and all the other great shit that comes with home ownership?

(worthless piece of shit locking up motherfucker)

Those guys are living in the barracks, not getting BAQ or any of the other stuff because their families are living in their houses. Now, when you get home you're at least a year behind in your payments, sure you get your job back, or something like it because someone else has been doing your job for the two years you've been gone, but you are still in a hole because the "G" was blowing the horn about some terrorist boogeyman, seems to me the last attack was a year ago, NOTHING since. Isn't that what the active duty military is for?

Give me a fucking break man. These kids joined the Military only to get free College Aid. You joing the Military you just might have to fight a fucking war. And since they cant fly you back and forth into a war zone 1 weekend a month for a year then its obvious they will have to fight.l

Im guessing you guys are to young to remember the last war. Remember all the TV add they ran back then. Support the reservist when they return. They ran these adds for a year. They told employers not to terminate reservist while they served. thats more then vietnam vets got. Kids today have it easy. And most likely reservist wont see much battle. they will serve as Fox hole diggers or working in supply centers or working the docks and loading ships with tanks and shit. They save the real fighting for the marine corps.

I was under the impression that the reservists were called up to replace the active duty who were cycled out to fight in the war. So, the reservist is doing the mundane day-to-day shit so the active duty can fight. At least that's the impression I get.

A reservist knows that he can be called up to active duty in a time of crisis. I wouldn't call this a time of crisis, but the Resident is the commander-in-chief so he can order the reservists around all he wants. Yeah, it probably does suck for them, but that's what they signed up to do.

If I'm not medically disqualified (again), I hope to join the USMC reserves this fall. While I don't agree that we are in a state of war or a time of crisis, I understand that being call up to active duty is a possibility and I accept that.

Is it just me or are some if not all politians imbasils? My belief is that most politians think America's people are all dumb hicks (which some are granted) but if we're smart enough to know a right from wrong. Shouldn't they know the same? If they where to start a war, I think America should have the choice, and not Dubya. (what kind of name is Dubya ne way?) We don't recieve word about everything that's happening, yes we get most of it, but not all. My uncle is in the army, a captain actually..but he told me that America is being screwed. Key events are not being told to it's people..
Got an opinion?

Its not just you, the damn leadars of or nation are idoits and th ones from california ,i dont have enought time to list 1/1,000 of their dumb laws and im just talking the gun related ones. As an example
"Did you know you could loses your weapons for 10 years if you dont have a properly lisenced and state of california aproved lock on at all time when not in use, the gun locks that will come with the gun from the manufacuers are not good enought, after all congress knows more about the guns than the manufacures,,, Right? Also you must sign an afidavid swearing that your lock is aproved and the gun retailer must sign one also." this law along with 39 other reasn to take your guns away for ten years will become law in 2004. Shit if it was up to me i would vote Zero the Inestimatible for president.

ok heres a new one! the u.s detains all of these prisoners of war in Cuba, but then they decide that they are goingto release 600 or so of them. Now we being the collective genuises that we are know that they are active terrorists and have vowed to "bring down the great whore!".
Now what kind of hypocritical dumbass thought that this was a great idea? Unless we are planning on releasing them but ass naked, and dropped out of an airplane at 10,000 feet by parachute , with no operating lessons, over the south pole?
Forgive my pissy attitude but we spent "x" million dollars catching these rat bastards (no offense r_b) for what reason? Would it not have been much cheaper to kill them all on site rather than feed the miserable assholes for months and let them go?

This could be true. However, from what I understand of being in the reserves, once your year of active duty is up, you can be involuntarily extended for another year. though I could be wrong. And If they are reciveing active duty pay, with benefits, alot will be better paid then their civilian jobs. although for some this may not be the case.

By far the majority are making less on active duty than they did at their civilian jobs, much less.

I understand the part about "you knew you could go active" but it specifically says in time of crisis, this isn't a crisis, unless you're talking political.

At that time it was a grave crisis though, and we have no way of knowing if it will happen again, given the proven inept jobs our intel and investigators have done. And The shoe bomber scared the living shit out of people as well.

As for the jobs out there, you can't beat the benefits that came with military service. Commisary, medical and dental, housing, and more. Most probably do have better paying jobs, but I'm positive most are college students or make around minimum wage.
