Ginger/IT?
Its not a Segway, so What is it? Such figures as Steve Jobs and Jeff Bezos believed the invention would radically change the way we live. Bob Metcalfe, founder of 3Com told the New York Times earlier this year: "Some months ago when speculation was running high, I said that Kamen's IT was more important than the Internet, but not as important as cold fusion, had cold fusion worked out. The IT I was talking about, which I did not disclose, was NOT Segway. That's all I can say." Link

I think he was hoping peoples attention spans were long enough to appreciate the segway. People have already forgotten about it though. Every thing that I had read up until now had said that the segway was his big invention.

Re: Ginger/IT?
The Segway is brilliant, it does make me wonder what all of this "life changing" technology is about. Maybe perpetual motion, or something close to it?

Re: Ginger/IT?
I was expecting something more than what was shown. Possibly something like IT from south park, without the anal probe.
If the Segway is a smokescreen I would love to know what it's hiding.

Re: Ginger/IT?
Ginger has been compared to the Internet and Cold Fusion. I cant see anyone in their right mind saying that about the Segway.
And look at all the the Big Guns that have singed on. None of them are denying that they are a part of IT. But none of them are talking about IT yet either. John Doerr one of the golden boys of the dot.com world. He's a partner in Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Beyers, the venture firm that launched Netscape, Amazon.com, Excite, @Home, Heatheon and many others. Thinks Kamen will do for the 21st century what Ford did for the 20th, and he calls Kamen a combination of Ford and Edison. Kleiner and Perkins has invested $38 million in Ginger. The other major investors include the venture arm of Credit Suisse First Boston, Paul Allaire, CEO of Xerox and Vern Loucks, recently retired CEO of Baxter, Steve Jobs, and Jeff Bezos, multi-billionaire founder of amazon.com. The total comes to nearly $90 million. This is the largest single investment KP has ever made, and they've given the new company the highest valuation in their history--$500 million. They expect the invention to create a company worth $5 billion within five years.
I know the first link is long but if you read through it they cant be talking about the Segway.
