9 Miners
I really am happy they didnt die. it must have been scarey as fuck for them. But let it go already. I think CNN and MSNBC just dont have anything else to talk about right now thats new worthy. So they are using these guys.
Im sure there will be a book deal or money involved. First guy out gets the bulk.
Milk it for all its worth.

Re: 9 Miners
Yeah, I live in the Northeastern part of Pennsylvania (the other coal mining area), and it was nice to hear they were okay, but by Thor, they really don't need to put it on the national news once, let alone days on end.

Re: 9 Miners
I bet the media is calling them heros and brave and all that usual shit.
I'd say there will be a movie before a book.

Re: 9 Miners
They made a movie about Stuart Diver and there was only one of him trapped down there. Not much of a chance for plot or dialogue.

Re: 9 Miners
Remember that film when a girl of a family of hillbillies fell down this hole in the backgarden and it was a big rescue mission.
That was crap.

Re: 9 Miners
ive lived non stop for over 17 years and no one is calling me a hero. you shouldn't be a hero by just not dieing.
i also hate it when they call sports people heros. they play sport good, they are not heroic. its a phrase that i get sick of hearing.

Re: 9 Miners
People are not brave or heroic for not dying. Millions of people live every day, they're not brave, they're just doing what they're supposed to.
Sports people do their job. My garbage man does his job. Therefore if an athlete is a hero, so is my garbage man.

No! Atleast the media now has something decent and positive to report on instead of the usual market doom and gloom reports (despite the market's impressive rebound and my stocks soaring). DJIA 8711.88 +447.49 NASDAQ 1335.25 +73.13 S&P 500 898.95 +46.11 Oh yeah baby! What's really sad in the news, quote: Three firefighters were killed when their truck tumbled into a ravine en route to a wildfire in California. We'll have a full report.
quote: Samantha Runnion's alleged killer beat child molestation charges two years ago.

Re: 9 Miners
i am surprised that made the national news. its a big deal here in PA but i figured everyone else would write them off as worthless hillbillies. there is a lot of mining history here in PA and most everyone has had a miner (or steel worker) in the family.

Re: 9 Miners
yeah, I'am suprised they made it onto the mass media so much. I live 1000's of kilometers acroos the atlantic and they were a resonably big event on the news. I guess the media use it do dodge around from reporting on more important things.

Re: 9 Miners
I ran across this and thought it was funny.
A Senate committee composed of senators Daschle, Clinton, Kennedy, and Feinstein, have announced that the rescue of Pennsylvania's nine coal miners has been cancelled. The miners will, by recommendation of the committee, be placed back in the mine for potential further rescue, or additional rescue, if done correctly and legally, because the senators noted the following violations in the rescue process."
10.) Heavy diesel equipment was moved to the rescue site without concern for possible air pollution. 9.) Water was first pumped out of the mine without first determining if the water was polluted or providing an environmentally safe catchment area for the water. 8.) Numerous holes were drilled in the ground for the rescue without first performing an environmental impact study. 7.) No effort was made to make sure racial, ethnic, and sexual diversity of the rescue workers. 6.) The governor of Pennsylvania was heard to thank God during the live TV broadcast of the rescue many times, violating the separation of church and state. 5.) Several people at this public government supported rescue mentioned praying. The miners' families mentioned praying. In fact when the miners came out they said they had prayed. For that reason alone they ought to be sent back in there. 4.) The trapped miners did not represent a diversified cross-section of American society. There wasn't one of them that was black, there wasn't one female, there wasn't one native American, there wasn't one Hispanic, there wasn't one member of al-Qaeda. 3.) Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and Hillary Clinton were not given sufficient time to arrive and make speeches at the site, which will be corrected during the next rescue if all these other things could be handled first. 2.) The senate was not given sufficient time to determine whether or not any Republican officeholder owns stock in the coal company, thus being responsible for the conspiracy to cause the mine to flood in the first place. 1.) No one mentioned that Algore invented mine rescues himself.

Re: 9 Miners
You'd be a hero to the red cross. If someone gives me money, they become a hero in my eyes.

Re: 9 Miners
These 9 miners were trapped in a hole. They're heros.
Now, just how the fuck does being trapped in a bloody HOLE make you a hero?
