Default Bombshock and Totse

After reading tr0gs post about Bombshock i have had several bands of thought about the misguided souls who ended up there.
Bombshock contains very little reputable infomation and even less common sense. The mgs (misguided souls) are using this info to make things that are very dangerous, half the time they neither know what they are doing or what they are actually making and thats dangerous. If these teenagers and kids are going to do these things then they should have decent infomation that will help them to keep all their limbs intact, and i think that as a very respectable source of infomation with knowledgable members that we, totse, should be the ones to make the first move. If we could get a few moderators or regulars to go over there and talk to xplode (their main mod) and maybe try to convince him that we can help him and his members then we would be helping those mgs to get through puberty with all their body parts intact.
These kids and teenagers are people sons, daughters, brothers and sisters and we should try to keep them safer. If we could at least try to talk with xplode then we can say that we tried and he didn't want the best for his members and that bombshock is a total unsalvagable piece of... well you get the idea.

I am particularly interested in the moderators views, especially JC Stanton's and Enigma's, and i would also like to know how the whole totse vs Bombshock thing started. I also hope that you post serious points and that you don't just dismiss this humanitarian thought and potientially life saving gesture as just another stupid topic post.

my view, as a moderator, is... fuck em

you cant very well stop people from reading their site, and you cant shut them down. they have a right to do what they do, and they tell people that its dangerous before they enter the site. thats their commitment to the law. what people do is their own fault, and whether they get the information there, here, or elsewhere, theyre gonna be dumbasses. i havent read the bad ideas forum lately, but id be willing to bet theres some shit in there that i wouldnt recommend anyone doing either, but thats how it goes. i cant stop em.

Besides, you know that no one over there actually does any of the things they talk about. They just talk, because it makes them feel big and important - Even if the information they spread is false.

Myself, I've given up on the place. I used to post there, but trying to convert those masses is a lost cause.

I never said that i wanted to shut them down, i was just hoping that a few mods, obivously you won't do it, could talk to xpl0siv over icq (maybe) just to actually talk where he can see it (totse or bombshock boards don't count) if JC were to actually go and talk to xpl0siv about leaching the files from totse then maybe something would be done about it. But you are correct in some respects, we can't stop them from reading, we can stop people from reading what they want, but we can stop some of the crap from being fully available to stupid people. i just thought that i could air my views and maybe get a little postive feedback. If one person can tell me the reason, the one point, that made this whole attitude appear over bombshock then maybe it could change my views

totse also has many misguided text files, such as:

Unless i'm terribly mistaken - which is quite possible since I haven't seen all bombshock files - none of the stuff they advertised is actualy dangerous. Most of it is just kiddie stuff which is not likely to cause serious injuries. And if something does happen, the curious teen will consider the consequances next time he attemps something as stupid as that.

So there's no harm in it.

The only sad stuff about bombshock is that, as J.C. reported, they leak their information from TOTSE - but I don't think there's anything we can do about it. Trying to wipe out plagiarism on the internet will have as much success as the Americans had with their 'war on drugs'.

True, those kids need guidance. Got my hands full here (BAD IDEAS and BITCH AND MOAN) plus I often wonder if it's worth the effort.

Some may agree Nox, some people may believe that its not worth the effort but we could at least try, if they reject us then balls to them, we tried it would then be their fault.

I would still like to know how this whole thing started so that i can get a better understanding, if JC could comment, or Enigma, then i would be very thankful

Save your tears for people who grew up in the projects and schemes and never had a chance in the first place, not for middle-class white kids who want to "Bl0\/\/ $hIt uP!!!!!!!!11111111111111 LOLZ!"

A while ago I broswed through various topics that would fall under the weapons and combat type of catagory and couldn't believe my eyes. I spoke to one of the moderators and advised him (turned out to be a 13 year old kid who never held a actual firearm before) to start deleting these topics to save what little integerity his board has left.

If you can convince the world's superpowers to stop dropping bombs on people who have no choice whether or not they get blown to pieces, I'll do my part to convince dumb kids not to blow themselves up out of stupidity.

i have had email communication with xplosives before, about a mod of his that came here talking shit. he didnt really care that the mod was a moron, he said mods were just there to keep the forums in order, not to provide information. thats a summary anyway.

Ok Trippy i get your point, i understand that there are defensless people with no voice speaking for them at all in some parts of the world but;
we have little chance of helping them,
we even have little chance of helping some people that live only a few miles away,
we even have little chance of helping a tramp in the street if we don't group together. The russians during the second world war managed to beat the elite german troops because of their sheer numbers, a colony of ants have been known to take apart a whole tree in the amazon because of their sheer number and maybe if totse in out sheer numbers (34424 of us) tried to help out then maybe we might get somewhere, i don't want to convert totse into a charity but you have to acknowledge that there is a huge untapped resource of people here, smart people and people with knowledge (and i bet a few have some of power too). Maybe one day, Trippy, we can help out the people in those godforsaken countries that get relentlessly bombed, but in any case i can't do it alone, and you can't expect to ask someone else to do it for you.

I have three comments about the situation:

1) TOTSE is a library of ideas. Some are good, some may be bad, some may just be insane. No one can know everything, and therefore we are not the position to judge each textfile and say "That's a stupid idea" Maybe it is, maybe it isnt. That's for you to decide. That's what the marketplace of ideas is all about. Beware of those who say they know better and should filter out the information for you, they are probably full of shit.

2) I dont really care what bombshock does or doesnt think about us, or anything like that. Sites like this come and go all the time. Doesnt concern us even a little. They want to do there own thing, great. They want to say bad things about totse, we couldnt care less.

3) I think paying $12 per month to access their file archive is ridiculous. You can access TOTSE's for free, and they seem to be the same. Plus their is a little thing called "Google", with which you can find most everything you need. On the page of Nodoze or whatever that is their file archive, they whine about how much it costs them. TOTSE has a monthly average of 30-40,000 hits per hour. This is expensive. When they hit that, then they can start whining about expenses.

Well, since you arent allowed to access the files unless you cough up $12, who really knows. But many of the titles are the same.

My personal favorite is the Zine section, where they have back issues of zines, including phrack. All available for a mere $12 per month($144 per year).

So they are taking freely-available phrack, putting it up on their website, and then charging people to access it! What a deal!

Wow. $12 a month for the shittiest textfiles that are copied from here and here: www.textfiles.com/anarchy

The sheer stupidity of bombshock still amazes me.

Remember that "important news" thread? HAHA! I totally ripped them to shreads.

P.S: hey J.C, why were our signatures disabled? and can we have them back?

Why don't you *all* go to their site and Post a thread talking about your ideas? Im sure if all of you guys raised the points you are raising right now you could get something done.

But that is assuming several things:P

A. We want to devote the time to do that.

B. They want us to do that.

C. They are interested in improvement.

D. They would follow good advice.

E. We would give good advice.

F. That those morons could migrate to Totse adding their genes to our genes, thereby making our genes cesspool fodder.

I understand peoples doubts, what i still as yet don't understand is how the whole thing started or does everyone just follow the status quo
-Generation 1 says: they hate bombshock so i will
-Generation 2 says: generation 1 hates bombshock so i will.

Is this how it works or does someone know the truth.
