Murphy's Law As Experienced in MY LIFE
i wanna hear about experiences people have had with murphys law in real life :> (murphys law is actually a reckognised psychological phenomonen)
mine are:
Its only after you buy your drugs that you remember all the bills that are due soon
you only remember your on your last pack as you fish the very last ciggy out of it
you only remember all the cigaretes you wasted and gave to bums when you have none left
you only get involved in good fights when your completely drunk or on drugs(and the other person is almost always less enebriated then you)
the first time you learn your not invicible is two days after your first fry shot of meth(when all your muscles are acheing and you "discover" three broken fingers)
you only think about aids and hepatitis after youve shared the needle
everytime you wake up in an expensive hotel room smelling of perfume you will check for a condom wrapper first, then your wallet, neither of which will be anywhere to be found
you only think about where your going to shoot your load 5 seconds before you do
untouchable women will always invite you out when you have no money
your never as smooth as you think you are with the ladies
for some reason you'll still be proud of the fact you can braid your pubic hair even after your g/f tells you its desgusting
youll only realise you were in love when she leaves you for another guy
you'll never take as much on your second time as you did on your first, no matter what drug it is
at one point in your life your best mate will end up with one of your ex's
youll never be able to relate how in love you are to anyone, but somehow everyone already knows
you'll always get uncontrollably drunk on less alcohol when you drink on impulse
at some point in your life you'll realize your parents are right, but ignore them anyway
there will be a time when you will know your friends are protecting you from the night before and youll play along
your first fuck will be a goddess up until the fucking part
you will one day find out how average your life actually is, and be surprised that the people who did the best in high school, used more drugs than you did
for some reason when you try to hang yourself you will never find a place high enough, a rope long enough or a place to tie the rope off onto
PLEASE COMMENT AND ADD YOUR OWN

Re: Murphy's Law As Experienced in MY LIFE
Most of those sound more like things that are those in which the outcome is up to you, whereas Murphy's law are those things that are totally beyond the influence of mere mortals.
Example:
Every time I get an unexpected windfall [hell, even just get caught up with my bills], something comes around to take it [or put me back into debt]. Like when I got a bonus at work for around $200: within the same week I got a notice out-of-the-blue of some unpaid fine that had to be paid right then - or a warrant would be issued.
That is what Murphy was on about [and he was an optimist.

Re: Murphy's Law As Experienced in MY LIFE
<grunts>
eh not interested anymore...
i just needed to write a lot at the time of that post
but reverand, no offence or anything, but i see no difference between your explanation and most of mine.
murphys law is the observation that whenever something can possibly go wrong it will. and i has been expanded to include a whole lot of mumbo jumbo about general psychology in that a human will always see themselves as getting the wrong end of the stick, ie the people in the fastest checkout line will not notice that they are, but the people in the slowest will always notice they are.
so its become general observations concerning that observation from everyday life that is being touted as "murphys law" ie whenever a dog is sure to win the race, it gets withdrawn or you computer will always crash when your in the middle of something important and forgot to save(see how thats not true but you remember when it happens because of how angry/upset you get)

Re: Murphy's Law As Experienced in MY LIFE
THe only difference was that in most of what you mentioned, the person had some element of control over the situation, whereas what I was talking about was totaly out of the hands of most mortals.
That's all.
But I suppose you're right; they both could be considered examples of Murphy's Law.
