Whats the difference between a Rancher who does business with a fertalizer company and boy bands?

I think they should be forced to write their own songs. I think it'd be interesting to see what would come out.

I think they suck.

they are a slap in the face to every genuine musician (especialy lyricists) out there. they contribute to the growing epidemic of stupidity in america. i can honestly say that i am incapable of having a converstion with a girl my own age. this is mainly due to the poor influence this societies music has on them. i hope people see past the foolishness in their music but i doubt it will happen. if its not them its someone else.

pop music. it brings money. lots of it. so whether it sucks or not,it is purely an individual opinion. i don't really care about the boy bands. i smile when i think about nsync and the likes appearing on vh1 'where are they now...'

6 to 17 year old fat girls need boy bands. i remember being in middle-school and this chick who was a lil big for her age (about 6 foot 250lbs, for real, she had glandular probs.) was in love with the nkotb. and she went to their concert and got one of em to sign a pin for her and she fainted and hit her head on the rail and had to be taken to the hospital by ambulance. missing the show.

you know how the beatles started out right? next thing you know they are touted as the greatest rock band ever.

the main difference being, that after the first few albums, the beatles ACTUALLY WROTE almost all of the songs on their albums, something no other successful boy band ever did. also, all boy bands are modeled after the beatles, they just happened, all of the rest were created. somebody please close this topic!!!

seriously though, punk died quite a while ago. Don't get me wrong, I've spent quite a lot of time playing with the quite lovely corpse it's left, but if you really expected it to stand up to time then you've just been fooling yourself.

Don't worry, theres still plenty of good music out there. Don't expect to hear any of them call themselves punk rock, and yer gonna have to work a little harder for it, but it all balances out.

besides, pop doesn't last too terribly long.

Nowhere did I say or even imply that people wouldn't do things that they normally wouldn't do, for money I didn't even say or imply that people wouldn't make horrible compromises to be able to live their dream. They would, they will, and they do.
If, for example, your dream is to make money doing music, or even if it's to be a 'rock star', then, yes, there are many who will kiss the corporate butt to get there and not worry about [too much] about having basically prostituted themselves just to live that dream.

Wanting to be in a boy band is a specific dream and if that was what you wanted, you would know, going into it that "stupefying the minds of youth, making a complete fool of yourself, and sucking corporate cock" is part of the [granted, partially hidden] definition.
