cobra, censorship is the removal of content. Or access to content. Examples of this:
- Deleting text / offensive material
- deleting whole threads
- Removing a user (hence denying access)

That is censorship, and that is what this board is against.

Moving a thread, or locking a post because it has gone out of control is the alternative to deleting posts/threads, and removing user accounts.

If you were being censored we wouldn't know about even a complaint. And since you are complaining i doubt you are being censored.

I don't believe anything should be censored. If someone is just being a complete idiot, you should lock the thread, and leave his/her writings up as a testament to that persons stupidity. Later, if they ever grow up, they might reveiw that thread and feel profound embarressment at having written such garbage. You just do the person a favor by deleting or editing their post. If they truly become a serious nuisance...just ban them for a year.

cen-sor-ship n 1 a: the institution, system, or practice of censoring. b: the actions of censors.

cen-sor n 2 b: an official who reads communications and DELETES material considered harmful to the interests of his organization.

So actually it isn't censorship, censorship involves deleting material.

Locking posts down might be annoying to you. But who says you can't, oh say, open other threads and complain about the same thing. If you were really censored you wouldn't be able to open new threads to complain about it.

No one is stopping you from communicating with anyone about anything. There are numerous reasons for locking a thread. There are also numerous ways of continuing to discuss a topic if it is that important to you, take email or irc for instance.

but they are keeping us from comunicating here at totse. that is what i am talking about. i know how to use e-mail, and im not trying to make it out like there is some kind of attrocity going on here. i just think that a site like this is misleading about free speech and the some mods abuse there authority.
