Ah yes mike the headless chicken. the farmer liked chicken neck so he cut as near the chickens head as possible. problem was he cut too near the head and left some brain stem in.

Re: show i saw......explain some cons......
You could, but to what end? For example, what about the guy who took the perfectly good monkey, made him climb down from playing on the bars at the top of his cage, which he probably felt at home in , never having lived in the jungle and all, then anesthetizing him, probably with full co-operation given he probably was someone the monkey knew, and then cutting off his head and re-attaching it to the body of another monkey who'd recently suffered a similar fate only without the chance to re-awaken from his induced slumber to the joy of being completely paralyzed from the neck down for the rest of his life.
Of the doctor who did this to prove that he could.......but why? Such insensitive half-assed bitchiness sucks!
But anyway, what would you do?

Re: show i saw......explain some cons......
have you people ever seen a chicken butchered?
have you ever the saying 'running around like a chicken with it's head cut off'?
occasionally after a chicken's head is cut off thier muscles will spasm making some of them 'get up and run'.
although their usually apparently no purpose to it; which is why we have the saying i mentioned above.
but sometimes it looks similar to movement with purpose.
you know if you get out of the city every now and then you will actually feel the temperature drop.
put that tree down.

Re: show i saw......explain some cons......
The chickens nerves are still intact, casusing the chickens muscles to move in every direction thus causing the chicken to move. it isnt a magic trick

Re: show i saw......explain some cons......
Winki, You are sayin a doctor succesfully reattached 1 monkies head to another monkies body and it lived? for how long. and was it paralized? and if not then how come they cant cure people of paralisis if a doctor is capable of doing this with monkies. and also, if someone were to attach 1 humans head to another Human would that single person sharing 2 body parts now feel the emotions of the head person or the body or both?

yah, On TLC network. Army Survival. This Sgt. took a chicken (While his arm was wrapped simulating a broken arm) and showed the recruits how to kill a chicken if your arms dont work. and he held the chick with his one good arm and used his teeth to pull the chickens head off. it was pretty cool watching it run around. also while on a Muni bus in San Francisco a chinese woman tried to bring on live chickens and the bus driver said "No live animals are allowed on the bus" so she said ok and took both chickens and ringed their necks. If you dont know the process of this you take a chicken by the head and spin it around.. thus the term one parental unit usually says to their offspring "if i catch you smoking pot again i will ring yer neck". BTW she was allowed on the bus after she killed then. Its a strange world in wich living animals are not allowed but dead animals are allowed on public transit. Re: show i saw......explain some cons......
Yes he did just to prove that he could. I guess it was as advanced a medical procedure as had been attempted at that point.
Going into the operation he had no plans to attempt to try and re-attach the severed spinal cord and central nervous system in the monkey. He was simply confident that given his medical training and skill, that he could successfully transplant one living head on to another living body and have the patient survive the operation.
I saw it on a special that dealt with the topic of real life bionics, the prosthesises that are being produced today and that was part of the history of the complete replacement of limbs and appendages. They are now just getting it down to where they are able to transplant whole arms and legs.
I don't know the specifics on the remainder of the monkeys dreadful existence, just always struck me as fucked that he knew full well the thing would be a vegetable for the rest of it;s life, I mean why show off to such an extent? I guess there are reasons...I will try and find a link to more info for you.

Re: show i saw......explain some cons......
I read the first link and its very bizzare but i think its very useful for futuristic surgery on paralized humans. i just dont understand why no one seems to really work on this shit. I mean you always here christopher reed talk about how advance science is today and he is very sure that they will be able to cure quads in about 3 years time. but i think that comment was made 3 years ago and still no serious advances. is it about money. about cashing research grants in. And why didnt the doctor make at least a half hearted attempt in fusing the poor monkies spinal cord back together. This shit happened in the 1970s for fuck sakes. havnt we advanced in science enough to make a better attempt at this kind of micro surgery?

Do you think it's bad we give chimps AIDS to try to create vaccines even tho we kill hundreds of them? I don't. Animals are animals test away.

Re: show i saw......explain some cons......
Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions Stem cells graft in spinal cord, restore movement in paralyzed mice Scientists at Johns Hopkins report they've restored movement to newly paralyzed rodents by injecting stem cells into the animals' spinal fluid. Results of their study were presented at the annual meeting of The Society for Neuroscience in New Orleans. The researchers introduced neural stem cells into the spinal fluid of mice and rats paralyzed by an animal virus that specifically attacks motor neurons......

Re: show i saw......explain some cons......
Of course, if you are involved in research on remediing/remedying? AIDS then fine, give the monkey the disease, I don't even like monkeys really, that is probably a personal problem, all the same, of course in the pursuit of such a noble end......However if you know that injecting the monkey with the virus will give the monkey the virus and beyond that the only plans you've got for trying to treat it are making the animal eat one red and one orange jelly bean every day, then you have done th emonkey a disservice(monkeys preferance for and prior access to jelly beans aside). I didn't really have a point just that simply because one with little education has an idea about something they might be able to do, why do it when, in retrospect it represents such an ostentacious stab at greatness made in a way so decidedly devoid of finesse or the ability to do anything else of that level of activity, whatever, I didn't really have a specific point just posting as I do, whatever pops into my head to post, thinking that someone might understand what I'm getting at and then maybe let me know.:P White Witch, why didn't he make a half hearted attempt? I think you comprehend just a tiny bit less less than I do which isn't very much in the grand scheme of things such as higher education. I mean that not as an insult, simply as a matter of fact sort of comment, oh well, maybe we were going to fight in another fight, away from the first fight...... ------------------ =/\___/\= >~ @ @~< >>(xYx)<<
