Re: crazy rain thought.....
It wouldn't work cause there is too much pollution in the rain these days. Besides in chemistry, you want to reduce the amount variables. Mother Nature is not always that predictable.

Re: crazy rain thought.....
That is true but if you want something to have a nice reasction with minimal cost try to get some pure potasium. Crunch it up into a dust a spead it on a neighbor's yard. When water hits it the potassium would catch on fire and if floating will move very fast glidding on the water. You can also see it if you through a chunck into a pool :-)

Re: crazy rain thought.....
im pretty sure magnesium would not work. magnesium just burns very very brightly when heated. it does not react with water.
potassium, sodium, and i heard cesium work. most of the elements down that first column of the periodic table.
cesium being hard to get, i think potassium would be your best bet. in contact with water, it will smoke for a couple seconds, then ignite with a purplish flame.

Re: crazy rain thought.....
the orginal point to this thread is what??
To mix chemicals in the rain so they wont explode or burn right then and there but wait for sunshine to hit the next day and have a surprize boom?
