Default That old thing...

So, in one of my introspective moods, thinking about that most rehashed, revised, revisited topic, love.. What is true love? What is any of that crap? Have you found it? Have you just found something you think is love but actually isn't? Is there a difference? Does it matter even if there is?

Is there any hope for the romantic? Or are we all just going to have our hearts broken, and become cynics? What song/movie/book describes exactly the way you wish love was for you?.. Is it possible just to find little pieces of a whole jigsaw of love, and not ever find the whole thing in one place?

Hey, spare us the monologue. I think that love is an illusion. I don't think it's real.Simple minded people create it for themselves it because they want to feel mature, and they want to feel like they are capable of functionaing on a deeper level than normal.

Oh, as for the jigsaw thing, was just something that occurred to me, similar to your frankenstein theory..

Have you ever had the feeling, when hugging someone, that right then, right there was the only place they wanted to be.. that kind of contentment that we're all searching for in some way.?

can't say what love is.

the only love i've seen or been exposed to( beyond parental or friendship) has been...

selfish, demanding, and self-centered.

I always tried to point out the fact that those precious little glass rabbits ,that when gifted to oneself seemed so highly valuable that one might have actually thought it possible to live by virtue of their possesion alone... The analogy was that should, or when, the day come that a realization that one cannot live by little glass rabbits alone was had, that there was absolutely no reason to smash them in anger or dissappointment, perhaps instead of doublesided taping them to your dashboard and then desk and then back home again daily, one might consider finding a safe place to keep them, little treasures that they were, and if kept on display somewhere that to assure they were dusted and all....sniff, would be a good thing....but that even if the most logical place came to be carefully wrapped in paper& packed in a box somewhere in storage, at least the manner in which they existed was one of appropriate respect and concern. After all who was to know that years later one might not be overjoyed to find them while spring cleaning and be able to unwrap them one at a time , hell maybe even share them with another who would see them as lovely knick-knacks that obviously meant something to somebody who meant something to them...

I damn sure hope so.

If somebody is possessive or selfish about someone they love, it's not the love that is possessive or selfish; it's their insecurities overpowering their love.

Not winki-esque, but maybe it's worth something.

Love is a chemical reaction that can be replaced by chocolate. Love can be created in a lab and injected into mice and it fills the pantries of obese women. On the other hand, natural love is also a mental bond. Like a magnet and can create the sense of telepathy which cannot be achieved through artificial chemicals.

In a way, we could make love without people, but there would be no point to love without people.

What am I talking about? I need a nap.

Cheers,
Lost

okay suz, you wanna know the reality of it, or some ones observation of it?.

the nihil knows these things as one of the things i am into is no secret here, chemicals, and i studied part of the neuro pre cursor loadind of the brain.

and baby, LOVE is or falling in love is

nothing more than a phenylethylamine addiction,

look up phenylethylamine

heartbreak is phenylethylamine withdrawal. the person you are in love with is only an artifice in the ritual you use to cause your brain to manufacture this drug.

we are constantly communicating with each other by discharging into the air colorless and odorless chemicals that form our social glue and determine how we interact and mate

no so with me,

the nihil

will fuck you like a horse,

and make you feel the instinct,

not the pheny shit.

Oh, so being Bi is something special now Nih?

As for the chemical stuff, I already knew that, wasn't the answer I was looking for really.. And I also know the stuff about chocolate too..

But that chemical is only released when you first fall in love.. Not constantly..

So what keeps you there?

Love is the one thing that shouldn't get this philosophical... but since you people are already waste deep in this meaningless discussion...

LOVE IS A FEELING WHAT STUPID PEOPLE CREATE IN ORDER FEEL MATURE. IT DOESN'T REALLY EXIST. IF YOU THINK YOU'RE IN LOVE, YOU'RE JUST SUBCONCIOUSLY WANTING TO FIT IN TO A MIX AND MATCH SOCIETY. IF YOU'RE DEEPLY IN LOVE, YOU'RE FOOLING YOURSELF INTO BELIEVING THAT YOU AREN'T SELF CENTERED. IT'S SORT OF LIKE A GIVE AND GO EGO THING. IRONIC, IN A WAY.

The chemical love you're talking about is just the sexual urges, the same kind that makes a dog hump it's owner's legs. But true love between two soul-mates that lasts a long time is one of the deepest human emotion. And I'm not talking just about love between sexual partners. The love between two freinds or between parents and children, althought probably not as deep, is the same kind of love, the same emotion that makes you want to make others happy.

Oh, and UnclWhatever, as you probably are a 12 year old boy who's idea of comittment in a sexual relationship is a ywo-year subscription to playboy, can you really say that your parents love is just a "FEELING WHAT STUPID PEOPLE CREATE IN ORDER FEEL MATURE. IRONIC, IN A WAY."

And finally, don't tell me love isn't true, it's just something that we do.

Well I can't speak for the others, but I don't because it would make me feel uneasy to see how someone can fool himself to such an encompassing degree. *scary*

Even if the day comes I "allow" myself to find "love" or "true love" I'll remind myself it's just an unusual serotonin rush I'm feeling.

You found true love, eh? Well, I guess everyone can't be an Alpha. lol.

Thanks Nihil. I like you, too.

Everything you're with the person there's the chemical reaction. It's not all the time when you're away from them, true, though. And I'm guess the reason is the same reason people say heroin addicts keep going back to the drug (this is a generalization) because they're looking for that perfect high that was just like the first trip. You crave the feeling you get from your first love, because since you experienced it your body craves it, in a way and the chemicals in your mind tell you that you want it. Then, when you're with the person, it's the old chemical reaction again.

Cheers,
Lost

Nihil- Yes maybe you did take notice of som people in here. A big thumbs up to you. Infomation like this will redeem yourself. Good to see m8.

others-
Well im kind of with uncln on this one. But the only reason is because i havent really found anything near love yet.
The reasons behind this are. That you can try to kind of imagine what human life was like before religon cars or the internet. People going around fucking to reproduce and keep the human species alive. Do you people belive that dogs love each other. Or mice, then think would bacteria love other bacteria.
Its kind of trippy to think bout that when your mind is weak. damn weak brain. you know where to buy braincells?

There are all types of love and it is difficult to define....There is the love you have for your significant other, if you found that person, love for friends, although "true" friends are hard to come by, and there is love for...what's the word, material objects, you choose for yourself. It is NOT a wasted emotion! Love brings amongst all other types of emotions like pain and happiness, and every thing in between.

I'm gonna write what my 13 year old sister sent me:

"Smile! Life could be worse! Maybe God wants us to meet a few wrong ppl before metting the right one so that when we finally meet the right person, we will know how to be grateful for that gift.

When the door of happiness closes, another opens, but often times we look so long at the closed door that we don't see the one which has been opened for us.

The best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch and swing with, never say a word, and then walk away feeling like it was the best converstaion you've ever had.

It's true that we don't know what we've got until we lose it, but it's also true that we don't know what we've been missing until it arrives. Giving someone all your love is never an assurance that they'll love you back!! Don't expect love in return; just wait for it to grow in their heart but if it doesn't, be content it grew in yours. It talkes only a minute to get a crush on someone, an hour to like someone, and a day to love someone, but it takes a lifetime to forget someone!

The happiest of ppl don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way.

Happiness lies for those who cry, those who hurt, those who have searched and those who have tried, for only they can appreciate the importance of ppl who have touched their live.

Love begins with a smile, grows with a kiss, and ends with a tear.

When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling. Live your life so that when you die, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying.

You don't actually know how you feel bout someone, untilt you get to know them. So don't judge some one for how they look or seem like at first. Get to know them, then judge. Kon't discard Love or anything or someone with just one glance. Because you'll never know what it's about, or you won't know what you've been missing."

It was longer...and I don't know bout "God", but I think what she sent me was cool. I've loved! Don't say there is no such feeling! It's what determines happiness and sorrow. It feels damn good knowing you've made the person you "love" happy or proud. But it feels real shitty when the you "love" makes you feel depressed, deprived, lied to, or cheated.

THAT'S LOVE!!
So there ya have it! The sappy dank! Sue me!
