Does anyone here know retail laws?

I went to Best Buys and grabbed the last firewire port off of a shelf and realized not only was it opened. but it looked like it was returned. They told me that it was in fact returned and that either I could A: wait till next week for a new product or B: get a more expensive brand that they had. C: Reducing the price 10% was also an option if he (The sales guy) could talk to his manager who was out to lunch at the time.

Now here is the kicker. Not all items are given an automatic 10% discount if they are open packages. But even if it was, what i dont get is Why they charge you a "15%" restock fee and only offer 10% back to the guy that purchases it. Why not 15% to the guy who buys it returned. that way the savings can be passed onto him. Where is the logic and ethics in this? Why should the store keep the extra 5% for just tossing it back on the shelf?

Face it dude, you got screwed.....It happens to us all....
