Columbine
I am so sick and tired of all this fuss about how "The poor innocent students of Columbine were killed" and how "Two unfortunate students lives were taken in San Diego" It makes me sick to my stomach to see how stupid the general public is.
Take Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold for example. I have a friend who goes to Columbine High School. She tells me those two kids were harassed, bullied, picked on every day of the week. Stupid shit like how they dress. Or the music they listen to. or maybe one didnt take a shower that day. or maybe one wasn't wearing the latest collection of FUBU. or maybe one didn't have the new $200 pair of Michael Jordan shoes. or whatever. Maybe one student liked Marilyn Manson instead of Tupac Shakur. Maybe one student liked SlipKnot instead of Eminem. No matter what, these two students were harrassed day in and day out. They were spit at. Called names. Degraded. Teachers stood by and did nothing.
Same with the boy in San Diego. When I read the headline of the newspaper, I was stunned. "Student guns down classmates" I pick it up to read also that this kid was as well degraded, beat up, had his money stolen. The day before he had his skateboard stolen. He just cant take it anymore.
Then come death threats. "Oh there just messin around, they wouldn't do it." "Oh don't pay any attention to them." those were the reactions. Until one day, Eric and Dylan just could not take it anymore. They rounded up all there ammuntion and firearms and decided there life just wasnt worth living anymore. They went on a spree killing 13, before killing themselves.
Exactly how long were those two kids supposed to "turn the other cheek?" How long were they supposed to "just let it go?"
Underneath all the trenchcoats, Marilyn Manson T-shirts, "weird" clothes, and chains, and "that weird rocker crap" is a human being with feelings. If you cut them, they'll bleed. If they see something sad, they cry. If something is funny, they'll laugh. They are human beings with feelings whether they like Eminem or SlipKnot. Whether they wear FUBU or Hurley. They should be treated with respect, regardless of music or clothing brand.
And all the thugs, gangstas, wiggers, preps all wonder why this shit happens. Why did they do that?, they think. What troubled young minds! they think. Yeah, troubled thanks to your constant teasing and degrading and harrassment.
I personally wish everyone could get along. I agree with John Lennon in his song Imagine. I wish everyone could look beyond music and brand names to see people for who they really are. But unfortunately in this day and age, everyone getting along is not possible. There's always some asshole out to prove what a tough motherfucker he is. And as long as theres that, there will always be problems. Most people don't even give school shootings a second glance.
FINAL POINT: For most people, a school shooting in there school is probably the only way to get the message across.

Re: Columbine
I can understand your anger quite well. When I was about fourteen years old, everyone was doing all those things to me, too. They made sort of a sport out of it: They were always looking for weak points of mine, and aimed for them when they found out. Whatever I said or did, they made me feel that it was wrong or stupid and that this was typical for me. Little by little, everybody joined, until it was me alone against everyone else, even my former friends. After two years of this daily torture, I doubted myself so much that I believed everything they said: That I was and will be forever an absolute loser, that everybody hated me, even my parents - they said it because they knew I would believe it if they did it long enough. And just imagine almost everyone you know saying the same about you, you will doubt yourself, you will believe them. There were even bets how long it would take until I would kill myself. And you can believe me, they were very close to their goal, I don't think I could stand it much longer if I didn't get into another class then. Yes, I hated them , for a while I hated even everyone else, I think. But I never thought about seriously doing them any harm, fortunately. But I don't think I am better than the pupils who shot their classmates because of this. What do I know how they did feel like? I felt like it was all my fault, that it was only me who was wrong. I must say, they did a good job on fucking with me. Even now, seven years later, the wounds are deep enough that I can feel them every day, and for sure I will never be the same after this. But I do not hate them any more. I think I can understand them, understand why they did this. They were not evil, they were only stupid weak kids like me and most of this age who felt strong as a group. Or they did it out of fear of their own weaknesses being noticed. Whatever, if they knew what it was to be treated like this, I'm sure they would have not done this. On the other side, I would probably acted the same way if I were in their situation without this painful experience. This is human nature. I still try to understand people and why they do what they do. I believe that no man is evil or good, there must be a reason behind everything. And finally, did the shooting do any good? Think about it.

Re: Columbine
I'm still in high school I don't listen to the /right/ music I don't wear all brand name clothes I get made fun of from time to time
But the difference is I can deal. I have tons of friends and they don't have a problem with the fact that Cinema Strange freaks them out or that I wear exactly what I want to wear. I used to be a little nerdy kid so I know what it feels like, But I am who I am.
See, the problem isn't what they wear or what they listen to, its who they are. People pick out the wierd kids and ostracize them. If you see some kid that always talks to himself, and stares funny at everybody, you are going to be prejudiced to begin with even before you talk to him. So you talk to him and he does something you find unpleasant and all the sudden its a vendetta.
I'm not saying that all the jocks were innocent, i feel they were the true murderers, but I do feel the blame is placed in the wrong place.
Blame the damn parents. Its not even a question. Blame the media too, Columbine might not have happened if the two knew it would just be covered up.
I am very open-minded, but I will be the first to admit, there are people I feel are below me. Of course I don't feel this way based on sight, but rather interaction. I don't taunt them - I only fuck with my friends - but I might not invite them to my house, right?
I am an asshole.

Sorry about this but he doesn't get the message. Again
Read this carefully!
Look on the LEFT side of your keyboard (LEFT is THIS way: <-----). Do you see a button that says "Caps Lock?"
It's right above the button that says "Shift."
See it?
Now try pressing it, then typing something.
See what happens?
Pretty cool, huh?

Re: Columbine
i totally agree with RIP Timoth McVeigh. 100%. everyone tries to blame the media, video games, parents, whatever. but no one is willing to admit that some of the blame falls on themself. i realize my attitued might be a little biased or whatever, but i fucking hate jocks and preppies and everyone who wears abercrombie. last year i went to a private school, all boys catholic school. everyone there was big into sports and all that shit. they all wore abercrombie. they didnt like me because i didnt listen to the right music or wear the right clothes. they all hated me. they all made a sport of making fun of me, trying to get me to kill myself. i even overherad someone say they were trying to get me to kill myself. thats the only reason that i didnt. i considered doing everyone at that school some sort of harm. i considered blowing up the school, i was even going to kill a kid at school but i forgot my knife at home. everyone picked on me, even though they were all smaller than me. all of a sudden they all stopped. it was probably because i send some kid to the emergency room with a broken nose and bruised ribs. that happened over a year ago, and i still think about it every day. the wounds were deep, and will never totally heal. i feel for those kids who shoot up their school. rest in peace Eric and Dylan, i salute you.

Re: Columbine
Anyways, the schools are taking it really seriously. Did anybody see that episode of Boston Public when that kid is transferd because he said to some girl that she'll regret turning him down for the prom? I know it's a work of fiction and all but it really does happen. If your a jock and you bully someone, nobody cares. But if your at all a marginal and you desplay even slighly violent tendencies then the school goes balistic because it thinks your going to do another Culumbine.
What's even worse is that there was this kid in Ontario, Canada that got put in jail for 40 day over christmas (put in jail, not arrested. He didn't see a judge nor did he get a lawyer nor was due process followed) because he wrote a short story describing how he was going to kill a few people that were bulling him at his school and the school thought he was a danger to the students. He got put in jail for his thoughts in one of the biggest democracies in the world.

Re: Columbine
you can try to blame everyone you want, but i really don't know who is to blame. the kids of course for pulling the trigger. the other kids for making fun of them. parents for not knowing what's going on. teachers, counsilers (sp) for not realizing what was going on. friends for not picking up the signs. but really, no one ever knows right? i don't know who to blame, if there's even any blame to give. if you're being bullied, taunted at school, you'll get it worse if you run to your parents. most kids keep all that stuff to themselves. bottle it all up. which i know, everyone says is bad, but if you don't feel you can talk about it, then what do you do? if you mention it, instead of giving you help, some people would lock you up, or some shit like that. and really, the parents may know their kid is depressed, but do they really think their own flesh and blood is going to be the next high school killer? friends joke around and shit all the time. me and a friend used to talk about guns all the time when i was in high school. where the best place would be to pick people off, shit like that. that may be really fucked up, but i bet lots of people think about and talk about that stuff, even if only joking. teachers and counsilers (sp) have so many people to look after it's hard to notice one kid who acts differently. and it's usually the ones who aren't noticed that are the ones in danger. it's all in how people handle things. some people will get bullied for years and shrug it off. then one kid will be teased and just get so upset, frustrated, feel so alone, that it's not worth it to put up with it anymore. i don't think these kids are bad, stupid, etc. it is fucked up that they think the only thing is violence, but if that's what you see as your last resort, well...

Do you even know what racism, or "reverse" racism, is? Everyone in this thread is bitching about how the kids who shoot up their schools are often picked on terribly and are those rare birds who actually pick up a weapon and decide to do something about it. That's fine. It's a valid point. But there are people- the one that J talked about- who are in a hell of a lot worse situation, no matter how bad anyone's getting it in school. There's no racism there, where the fuck did you get that from?

Re: Columbine
I see what your saying RIP and on one hand I agree, Kill em all. But on the other They didn't specify targets. And when you get to the point where your just firing into the crowd and killing anything that moves you run the risk of killing people who don't deserve to die. They could have shot some people who were picked on and bullied just as much as they were.
Now i don't care how much of a tough guy you are at school, your parents are going to make you take out the garbage. So pick the guy you most want to kill and sit in your car (or a car you've just stolen) near his house on trash night with a super redhawk with a scope and take him out when he's bringing the trash to the curb.
Or if you still want to do the whole killing spree thing than I'd use the above plan to take out the most popular guy on the football team, or basketball or whatever. Then all his friends (which are probably people who have fucked with you too) will come to his funereal. Show up there with guns.
i mean it sucks that it's true, but when all else fails sometimes violence IS the only answer.

The problem with this country is that its always looking for who to blame. We need to stop looking for who to blame and start solving the problems. /Then/ maybe we should find out who's to blame.
If you've resorted to violence, you've already lost. The Columbine kids had already lost and they knew it, but for many, they haven't lost /until/ they pick up that knife/gun/whatever.

I'm watching Conspiracy Theory, the scene where Gibson yells out that there is a bomb in the middle of a theatre showing Ladyhawk (which, btw: was a decent serious movie even though the soundtrack was hilarious).
My question is, would the crowd respond the same way after Columbine? I think maybe we have begun to desensitize ourselves. Two years ago we would have probably believed a man yelling about a bomb, but now I'm not so sure.

no, I came off sounding that rich surbanites who of whom the majority ARE white do have life handed to them on a silver platter. Once again, you've been brainwashed into correlating race and class. There's no connection. Rich Privileged kids bitching about how hard they have it, regardless of their race, are the issue here. and frankly white witch, I find it amusing you accusing me of racism after yer blatantly racist remarks in this and other forums. There is no such thing as reverse racism. Racism is racism, but you have no idea what the fuck race is, obviously. Go back to 3'rd grade and pass it this time...

sorry to turn this into discussion about race but i agree that there is no such thing as reverse racism.
if a black guy decides he doesnt like a white guy based on his skin colour then he is just as racist as the white guy who doesnt like the black guy because of his skin colour.
i think a lot of people just use racist comments against people they dont like (based on their character) because they cant think of anything better to say...pretty lame.

Re: Columbine
anywayz....original subject.
i have been the most bullied kid in my year (grade) and the most popular. both were because i was different.
the way it oftens starts is that the most popular kid in the year decides not to like you for whatever reason or another, or makes a joke at your expense because he cant think of anything truly witty to say...whatever...everyone else below him (in the wierd popularity hierarchy you get in a lot of schools) will decide to make jokes about you too so they dont become unpopular. eventually they will all end up thinking they hate you, but if it suddenly became cool to be your friend then they would too.
you can often tell how shallow your friends are at these situations:
1: they follow everyone else and bully you = they are shallow and value their own popularity more that their friendship with you
2: they just try to stay out of it = they value your friendship but not enough to put your feelings above their popularity
3: they stick up for you and become as bullied as you = they are a good friend and care for you a lot
bloody hell i sound like a helpline. :P

Re: Columbine
Comment on the Nightwish song 'The Kinslayer' (good song, nevertheless) by a band member: quote: [...] They had no real motiv. They made a videotape in the morning just before the massacre where they said: " We are going to kill you all. You have been giving us shit for years. We want to say our sorry for our parents; There`s nothing you could have done. This is something we must do. We`re sorry, we didn`t like life very much..."
The event is something I will never understand. If something as horrible as this can happen in this world, there`s no sense, no truth to cling to anymore. [...]
I can hardly believe it, but fear that this is what most people think of what did happen there. Don't they see the despair in their words? Is there any way out, any good thing to do? Regardless of what you do before, killing yourself means always giving up - you lose. Turn it all outward and kill somebody is bad, because you will be seen much worse than who gave you the reason to do so. Also think of spending your life in prison and the guilt you will probably feel. Keep it all to yourself, and.. well, it will slowly destroy you (or it will destroy you quickly but you will suffer slowly, I don't know) Whatever you do, it's already too late. You will feel differently, you will behave differently, you will have serious problems the rest of your life. Nearly noone will understand you, because noone can imagine your pain unless they have suffered it themselves. There's noone to blame, either. People only pass the pain they've suffered themselves. Is there any way to stop this?

Re: Columbine
I HATE EVERYONE Now that I've said that, let me explain.
I have never gotten along with people my own age. An IQ of 130 will do that. (not bragging, just stating) People never realy understood me, but I was happy. My few friends were 2-3 years older, but who cares.
Then I moved. The neighbor kids on either side of my house would beat me up (if you've never had skunk cabbage crammed up your nose, I do not recomend it.) My classmates would beat me up. The crossing gaurds beat me up almost every day. My teacher gave me detention every day that year. My parents had a messy divorce. Someone ran over my dog.
If I could have found a gun then, everyone would have died. Then again I was 8 and immuture.
I moved again. Things got worse. People would belt me in the head with rocks. On several ocassions someone tried to run me over.
I finaly got sick of the beatings and one day in class (bleeding from a stab with a pencil) I just started picking up desks and chairs and started throwing them at my tormenters. That stunt bought me 5 years of theropy (which made things worse actualy.) But people stopped beating me up (for the most part.)
Yet to this day people tease me, pick on me and all that. For six months last year there was a nasty rumor that I was gay (nothing against gays, I just don't want to be labeled something I'm not.)
Not once have I been invited to a party. I have 3 friends. People avoid me.
I have thought about killing myself. I have thought about taking as many people as I could with me. I drew up plans for how to acheive maximum body count. I still don't know why I didn't do those things when things were really bad, but I didn't.
Life goes on for all of us.

True, they were harrassed at school. But, no ammount of harrassment gives a person the right to kill. The harrassment was a reason, but not an excuse by any means. What happened was terrible and undeserved.
What's up with the killing sprees at school lately though? It seems like theres a new one each week! Is it the end of the world? Or is it just in the water?...

Re: Columbine
i guess im really lucky because this kind of shit doesnt go on at my school...I mean not to this extent anyways. I guess its different in canada. Sports in general aren't as popular or encouraged, so as a result theres not that many jocks etc... people don't get made fun of for being different(well at least not at my school). The worst thats happened to me were the few "disgusted" glances but thats nothing compared to what those kids went thru. the only thing i dont agree with is why did they choose to kill innocent people? I agree with Nicky_Little, they should have specified targets if they were going to go about killing people. theres no way we can understand this situation rationally, these guys were messed in some way or another. schools and teachers and especially parents should be paying more attention to whats going on...

But then popularity isn't just some random thing that someone gets. A person might not be good in math for example, but then he is able to spark a freindship with anyone. It's just that their life experience or genes or somthing are different from other peoples and they are popular. It might help if your good at sports or have good looks, but generally, but then, just being a jock doesn't mean your automatically popular. Hell, I was on my school football team and I still got made fun of.
But then, if your not popular with everyone, that doesn't mean you can't have freinds. Just stick with the people you know and who respect you.
On a second note, all the medias focusing on Culumbine and such have compleatly missed the point. It isn't the guys who went on the shooting rampage who were the disruptive and dangerous elements of their school, it's the ass-holes who made their life so horrible.

Re: Columbine
what's with this popularity kick?
why can't you just be involved with a group of people who have similar viewpoints.
what's popular in one group is made fun of in another and vice versa.
and the problems with the people who made their lives hell.
bullshit.
the problems with the jackasses who can't adapt to society and the way it behaves.
people have been getting shit from other people since the beginning of time.
face it folks;
no matter how hard it seems to believe,
there are people in this world who don't like you.

Re: Columbine
Okay, Lostmind, have you ever seen a show called Oz that's broadcasted on HBO in the united states? Well it's a show that shows the lives of imates in a maximum security prison. The scary part is that their day to da lives ressemble life in high school. I'll admit that theirs nobody killing anybody else with shivs in a high school but you still got the same tension and the same jackasses who think that they can do anything they want. Let's face it, bad things happen when you force people to stay together in the same place day after day.

Re: Columbine
I don't know too much about Columbine, being British, but what I do know is that here in Britain Columbine couldn't happen as guns aren't as easily available. Where did the Columbine (and the other high-school shooting) kids get their guns? If it was their parents, shouldn't they have kept them locked away securely? Shouldn't the parents examine their own personal motives for having the guns in the first place? I'm not saying that guns are bad, just that those with them should make sure that those in the position to abuse the power such a weapon brings should make sure that they never fall into the wrong hands. How far does the "right to bear arms" go? Where is the cut-off line between what weapons are "acceptable" and what weapons aren't? And who decides? I would finish with a conclusion, but i cant really do that with this collection of randomn crap, so....blurgh.

Re: Columbine
Those guys at columbine got their hands on a tek-9. Why in hell would somebody buy a submachine gun in our civilized society
Oh, and lostmind, where did you go to school? Riverdale High? Any normal school shares the same social system, althought at a lesser degree, as a Prison.

Re: Columbine
how did you know i hung out with the new archies?
my god these people were picked on.
the poor things.
they should've killed everybody there because they were all responsible in one way or another for allowing these atrocities to happen.
13 peoples lives are not nearly as important as the ego of 2 juvenile delinquents.
i stand corrected.

Re: Columbine
The right to bear arms exists to keep a people free from the tyranny of the state. If the Jewish community would have been armed I don't see the pogroms or the holocaust happening. The right to gun ownership protects minority rights in a society governed by the rule of the majority when other safeguards fail. Yes if gun ownership was Illegal as it is in Britain Those kids might be alive today, But they might be alive in a society where life is not worth living. Freedom is the only quality that Makes a life worth of living by a human being. All people die, and it is better to die free than live under the heel of an oppressive regime. In the words of Benjamin Franklin, "The man who trades his freedom for security will have neither."

Re: Columbine
"got their hands on a tek-9. Why in hell would somebody buy a submachine gun in our civilized society" Hey, I've got a Tec-DC9 so what? It's not a submachine gun, it's a regular semiautomatic. It was banned because it has a 32 round clip and the clip is inserted in front of the trigger. Despite the fact that TEC-9's look awesome they have serious drawbacks. They have a tendency to jam and the fixed sites could lead to bad aim. If I was going to go on a killing spree, or just defend myself, the Tec-9 wouldn't be my first choice for a firearm. Why did I buy a Tec-9 in a 'civilized' society? Two reasons, first I like the way they look and I've wanted one ever since I saw Big Trouble in Little China. Second since they are banned they're only going to get harder to find. BTW, Unlike those columbine guys my TEC-DC9 has a threaded and ventilated barrel and looks a hell of a lot nicer than theirs <IMG SRC=http://www.vpc.org/graphics/intratec.jpg> [This message has been edited by Nicky_Little (edited 05-11-2001).]

Re: Columbine
How many rounds can you fire in a Tec-DC9 in a minute? How many do you need to fire a minute to defend your liberty, Nicky_little?
Oh, and Alan Smithee, if the jews were armed with guns, do you really would think that would stop the nazi's. They would just clame that the jews were really a danger to society and would be less hesitant to kill them.
Secondly, liberty is not a direct consequence of gun ownership. The best way to get freedom is throught peacefull methods, just ask Ghandi and Martin Luther King.
And yes, life in England is "a society where life is not worth living".

Naw, on average, the americans have less laws. Their government is just controlled by Capitalist Cunts like the tobacco companies.

just wondering. Both Ghandi and Martin Luther King Jr were both known womanizers in their community. Im wondering if either one could have been wasted by a Jelouse husband.

Yeah, well theirs also the fact that Ghandi had taken a vow of celibacy so maybe he wasn't that much of a womaniser.

Re: Columbine
I said It was a Safe guard not the only one and secondly People only pick a scape goat that they know that they can easily destroy, look at the warsaw ghetto uprising, though all the jews were killed so were many nazis and it took them three weeks to do it. That was a few hundred. multiply that tens of thousads of times. Passive resistance does not work in an opressive regime those who stood up to the Nazis nonviolently were exterminated quickly with little inconvienence to the Nazis.
The reason why Ghandi and Martin Luther King Succeded is that they lived in states where decent was not met with a trip to the death camps. Although America and Britan are currently democratic times of hardship can cause deomcracies to give way to totalitarian states.

Re: Columbine
I must be really sick because the thing about opening up on a funeral made me laugh. but seriously i would rather be made fun of (and aren't all of us at one time in our lives?) than shot. I've been made fun of almost since i got into school. I've never been into a fight though (i'm 6'3 and 200 pounds). But i hate sports and i hang out with mostly black people (i'm from texas and that isn't the "cool" thing to do down here) There have been numerious people saying that i'm homosexual for the last year or 2 and most of my friends have dissapered becuase of it. One of my true friends and i were talking about it and it reminded him of columbine. I said don't worry i hate violence and could never shoot anybody and he said "yeah i know but i think if you raped some chick in front of everybody..." we both laughed (not becuase of the raping image. rape is the most vile and disgusting crime there is (next to being nihil =) ) anyway we both laughed because that is the only solution i have heard that would work. and after we got done laughing i thought it was really sad that violence is the only way to really solve problems these days. I wish we could go "hey you. stop picking on me. I'm not gay." and they would say in my utopia "Your not?! oh god im sorry. why didn't you say so? I'll go tell everybody your as straight as can be and again i'm sorry" but its a sad world we live on. where we depend on violence to solve problems. but hey it gets results. Revelutionary war Cival war ...every war solved somebodys problems. we should have a big free for all war. just a world war with no allys for anybody. ...casue that would be funny. espically if nobody but the totsians survivad becuase we hid in schbtch's bombshelter and laughed as nihil screamed let me in as he beat on the doors. PS i have nothing against gay people in fact if i found men attractive they would be my favorite kind of people its just that i would rather not be labeled somthing that i'm not espically in texas pss I don't like nihil. quote: by me i wold rather be made fun of than shot
