Nuclear bomb or regular explosives? If it's just a simple carpet bombing, it won't be that bad. Sure the'll be fires and rubble but not alot of people will die.

if we dont start rebuilding our military that will very likely become a reality in 50 years or so. the world is getting smaller. in 10 years there will be low orbit commercial flights.. with that kind of technology for commercial use what makes you think the chinese couldnt infact carry nuclear arms to the US. they already have them. as far as carpet bombing i dont see that a reality anytime soon. thats the great thing about living in North America. we are too far for a conventual war to happen here. if say china was where canada was i could see china flooding into the USA but not 12,000 miles away. they dont have the navy and airforce to carry them over here. Who knows maybe in 30-50 years but not now. And with that kind of build up we would nuke them thousands of miles off the coast before they even got here.

With the invasion of television into China beaming in all aspects of Western culture into China 24 hours a day, the Chinese people will eventually throw off their chains. It's inevitable!

IF China bombed us with a nuke I would live my life the same way I always have except of course for military rationing/gov't actions. I'm exept from the draft (essentially. There might not even be one, and I'm class F so the only way I would be drafted would be if half the US male population was already dead) because of flat feet. The US is a big fucking place, and if the blast affected me, that would mean it hit Philly, and I would be dead, otherwise I would just have to put up with the shit on the news. China isn't going to just bomb the woods.

If I lived through a nuclear holocaust and people were running around looting and pretending to be cool I would be sitting there with Real shooting punks.

Yeah, even if things lead to war. China suffers from to much internal strife to survive themselves for long. War would probably tip the populations patience with its government.. revolution maybe. But the scary thought would be if China started right out with nukes... as it is, if Nuclear war broke out I don't think you could possibly get far enough way from America and the potential strike zone. I doubt China would bother undertaking the plain bombing (non-nuclear) of America... not enough money, not enough support, not worth it, and not effective.

Still it's a dumb thing to say... the world may need relief from the human population, it defiantly doesn't need nuclear war. Nuclear war would hurt our world more than we already have. The fact America has demilitarized is an example the world should follow. Obviously it's not a good idea if America's enemies are doing the opposite, but the past has showed us twice the result of a race to build up armies, just to scare an opponent. I World War I we had Europe's nations with huge armies and threatened peace... what did we get? War. World War II showed something very similar. Trigger happy countries with big armies, leading to big wars. The world can't stand another World War. Hiroshima and Nagasaki proved that. Why build up armies if we are in search of peace? Peace isn't even a possibility if we can't trust each other. But where does trust get us... yeah, I know, world peace is impossible. Trust is weak. It makes you sad, in te end we destroy ourselves.

That's a good idea. But instead of a war with a super-power like china (it could get a bit messy), how about we have a smaller scale war in some forgotten country like, say, Viet-nam?

Many people live normal healthy lives and were still able to breed after they were just a few miles outside of ground zero in Japan. only half the people exposed to Chernobal died. but it seems that nearly 50% of the people exposed to large doages of radiation are affect to the point that it alters their health. nearly 20% will just get better as long as they arent burned half to death. So i see this whole nuclear war thing as truely being an end to the world. I mean a large volcano can effect the weather just as much as a full blast nuclear war.

and as a footnote.. i meant not an end.

and i saw something really sad on TV about this Japanese woman. She was like 70 years old and always had severe back pain, She was just outside of heroshima during the blast. she got some 1st and 2nd degree burns on face and back and went through 5 or 6 plastic surgery operations over some years but always suffered back pains. At first the doctors in the late 40s and early 50s thought it was radiation poisoning that hurt her kidneys but her blood work always showed up normal. Then around the mid 1980s when she was about 70 she died and her family asked to have a full autopsy done on her and they found out what was causing her pain. it was a 2x4 inch piece of melted glass that had wedged its way in near her spinal cord but for some unknow reason it never showed up on X-Ray. I think an CT scan would have found it . Hmmm i hope i didnt bore you guys. just thought it was kind of a sad and yet cool story. i wonder if the stress from the glass killed her.
