Default Montreal Mobilization

This April 20-22 there will be 34 Heads of State (except Cuba) meeting in QUEBEC CITY Quebec, East Canada. They will be setting up Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA). Several dozen blocks of downtown Quebec have been fortified with a 9 foot high wire fence bedded in concrete. Citizens may only enter if they have security passport; and numerous sentries will check for them. At least 5000 police and several riot detachments will attend. They have moved 5oo inmates away from a local prison to make room for arrested Demonstrators. Every hotel room within several miles of the site has been booked by Canadian government. New local laws make it illegal to wear or carry any sort of face covering, or any object capable of property damage. (Ask me and I will quote these laws sections in full) Likewise any group of two or more can be stopped and searched for anti-capitalist leaflets.
Demonstrators wishing to join this historic free-for-all can get info at:
Transport and Lodging Guide www.geocities.com/ericsquire/ftaa.htm
Local billets and French language inquires: www.oqp2001.org/
For more info, or if you wish to help in any way: clac@tao.ca

Bloody hell and I though the UK was bad with new laws coming in that will mean that you must decrypt your hard drive plus any comunications they have intercepted on demand and your ISP may have to install tapping hardware and as if that was not enough they'll slap a life time gaging order on you with a five year prison sentence if you tell any one

Fuck man, some of us are fighting this but you try to get ppl to encrypt and they say dum things like I never say anything private or I don't mind who reads my mail.
Get you bank statments printed on post cards then.

Use PGP. Its free, its military grade public key encryption. If you want help mail me.

The goverment control phreakery really pisses me off

Yes KAMERON communications security will soon be big issue. My info for the title post was a fax article from the Canadian newspaper "Discourse and Disclosure" April 2001 the Editor is sue.potvin@ns.sympatico.ca

KAMERON love, I have here Feb.22 "Guardian of London" article by George Monbiot. Labur's Tony Blair passed the UK Terrorism Act 2000. This defines Terrorists (under pain of possible life imprisonment) as commiting actions "designed to influence the government" or "for the purpose of advancing a political, religeous or ideological cause". The illegal actions include "serious damage to property" "interfering with an electronic system" or even associating with those who advocate them. Anyone even BELIEVED to be plotting such actions can be arrested searched and held incommunicado for up to seven days. The Act also permits police to cordon off an area and arrest anyone who refuses to leave. (Note how this last resembles what is happening in Quebec Canada folks!)

I have a Question and a Comment.

Question: Why is everyone against "Free Trade"? I dont understand why so please dont attack me if this is an ignorant question. I thought this is a way for the average person to do business outside of his own country to help his business grow and to shrink the gap between the rich and the poor.

Now my comment regarding Quebec.

Bahahahhahahahahahhahahahahahah!

sorry, I have to laugh at this part of Canada for passing this stupid fucking law regarding their signs. All fonts half to be twice as large in French as they do in english. I read somewhere that they fine any business who refuses to put french before english on their signs. And yet the exepmted Mc Donalds from this law because Mc Donalds threated to pull all of its chains out of Quebec if they were forced to do so.

I dont hate the french but this is just facists in my eyes.

..damn it, White Witch, didn't you read Templeton link?
... and Templeton very informing and worrying. Like the EU all over again... but worse... worse. I'm not so shocked by the effect it may have on employment, that's the basic effect of globalization (has anyone heard of the Torbin tax???), also the effect it would have on disease(I'm pro-death). But the enviormental issuse and the whole control thing going on here makes me angry. America trying to spread it's Americanism... the rich trying to be more rich. The exploitation of Democracy.
... but I'm not really in the position to come and protest, the flight fare to Canada would leave me broke.

I'm failing to see where the free trade expansion affects private communications. Even the negatives in Templeton's link didn't say anything about it.

Well I got some semi-good news for anybody who's protesting in Quebec in a week: The Quebec Government was not allowed to assist to the discussions in Quebec City because it's a province and not a country. That sent the Prime Minister of Quebec, Bernard Landry, fuming because as the head of the Party Qubcois, his duty is to promote the idea that Quebec is a sovereign nation with the right to assist on it's own at an international meeting (For all that are not up to date on Canadian politics, here's the gist of it: France colonized Quebec in the 1600's, England invaded Quebec in 1760 and now you got catholics of French descent who speak french pissed off because they a ruled by protestants of English decent who treated them like shit for the past 250 years.)

Landry hasn't said anything about it but do you know who is responsible of security at the event? Suret du Qubec, a police force that is controlled by the Quebec government. Meaning that while the protests are going on, the police that are suppose to take care of all this might be turning a blind eye because their prime minister is PO'd.

Christ, good link Templeton. Scary shit though. Especially that the meetings are secret. What that means is that no one really knows what the hell is gonna happen and never will know what took place.

Free trade is bad, for one simple reason that it takes away sovereignty of the nation and it adds more regulation. Instead of the US regulating what you can purchase, now you will have Canadian laws as well or at least some regulations that are Canadian influenced. Doesn't sound so bad, but Canadian regulations are written for Canadian issues.

NAFTA has proven to outright suck. We were told it would create jobs. Well it did, for Mexicans. Now we'll create more jobs for Canadians. But we're really not creating jobs, we're just moving them out of the US. Free trade doesn't increase demand, it really only helps corporate America find cheap labor and keep it's prices the same. So they make much more money at the expense of not paying Americans, then they expect the lesser paid Americans' to pay the same price. Well basic economics doesn't work that way, sure you have supply and demand, but you also have to have money to purchase. If it's all in the hands of big businesses then only they can buy their own product. Perpetual motion if you will is in impossible and eventually the system stops moving.

Nations like to collect taxes on the products we make. So is this eventually going to lead to Mexican and/or Canadian imposed sales taxes on what we buy? I don't even like supporting my own government let alone another. Such a thing may not happen, but some reason the elite wish to keep a lid on things. You have to ask why.

Now GMO's are a horrible thing. GMO's are typically hybrids, meaning the grain or fruit the plants will produce cannot reproduce. This means that farmers will have to buy seed every year in order to grow crops. The upside is said to have increased crop production. In the lab such a thing is very true. But in the real world we aren't sure, but a bigger scare exists. Such seeds share very similar if not the same DNA, sense they cannot breed, they cannot evolve. On the other hand bacteria, critters, and viruses are free to evolve. So for example these hybird GMO seeds are resistant to current forms of corn fungus. Fungi in this form breed and multiply at about the same rate as bacteria capable of producing thousands of offspring per day and that's slow. If one percent of the offspring develope mutations (an abnormality in DNA) that's 100mutations per day. This is starting with one fungus spore. The next day we have a thousand fungi that will each produce a thousand more, again 1% mutation.
So now we have a million fungi and 10000 mutants. The next day you will have a billion fungi and 100000 mutations, and so on...Soon you will reach millions and billions of mutations in one day. One of these mutations will be the right combinant DNA to allow the fungus to attack the new "resistant" hybrid seeds. And now you have the stage for a corn epidemic. Because the corn can't change it's DNA through reporoducing, every ear is susceptible to the new fungus. So the world loses much of what it made to fungus, because we thought we could do better than mother nature. But the epidemic will only last one year, for the next year we'll have new GMO's resistant to the new fungus. Farmers then buy the new more expensive seeds (if it's new it's expensive) and the cycle starts again. The net result is increased food costs, farmers more in debt, and more people hungry. It's better to let corn fungus have it's small share of non modified corn, let the corn on it's own develop it's own resistance. If it should need any help, then bust out the round up. Genetically modified organisms are thing of the future, we can't work as fast as mother nature so we can't compete. Do you think we could spew out 1 million different variations of anything in one day? Until we can, such things should be kept in the lab. Instead we'd rather push it, "Look what we can do". Do you know how hard it is to find seeds that aren't hybrids anymore? You can't go to the garden store and and pick them out, if they do have them, you'll have to ask.

Then this MAI thing. Jesus, that's like suing a cloud because lightning struck a tree. People need to realize that shit happens. But hell we couls all use it. Government actions such as the IRS has cost me great a deal of lost money and it has all of you too as well. So hell let's lettem use it, then sue the government for loss of profits.

Privatization of essential services. That's really scary. I guess for a while I thought privatization and deregulation would be a good thing. Until the power crisis in Cali. The reason being is that comanies are out to seek a buck, make a profit. Not ever to help unless they can get some enormous gain from it. The same people that want to bottle water and sell to you would now want to charge you the same price for it out of your faucet. A dollar for a liter of water is what we are paying now. That's an expensive shower. Furthermore there will be no competition, that means you are stuck with the lowest bidder. You would like clean water wouldn't you?

NAFTA has proven bad, this will probably be just as bad, plus all these bullshit provisions that will spread misery, the liberal way of things.

Ok, so we all know that the establishement are well established, and apart from shooting one in three until we get the ones we want, what is the real answer. bear in mid that every revolution so far has merely replaced one form of corrupt government with another form of corrupt government. Due to human nature, however pure the intent, it will be perverted to the individual ends of those chosen to lead. If we are going to change things we must do it soon, as it is nearly too late.
