Is Alcohol a Sin?
I believe the bible says its a sin to be drunk. But this is in the old testament. OK but things were mis translated into english. Anyone who drinks wine knows just a few sips and you start to feel the effects of alcohol. so at what point is it wrong to drink. Jesus Drank, Moses Drank and we all know Noah was pretty smashed when the ark came to rest on mount ararat. Now i think if you retranslate the word "Drunkeness" into english i bet its not drunk but "belligerency."
so now this brings up the Question "Would Weed be a sin"? Depending on what denomination you are a member of (Christians only) i Do recall an herb being offered to Jesus Christ while on the cross. This Herb is a cousin to cannibus. Jesus refused this herb not because it was wrong to indulge in, but because he wanted to suffer as much as possible to prove his love for man. At what fucking point have we in society decided something as great as Marijuana could be such an evil substance? Why is alcohol legal and pot not? Doesnt alcohol cause more deaths and violent acts then weed? isnt a little more harsh on the body then weed? couldnt it be a "Gateway"' Drug as well. Well i love alcohol, im not putting it down but i know pot is less lethal. and what the fuck is up with cigarettes? OK im sorry to all my friends who smoke cigs but lets face it you really dont get very intoxicated of the damn things. so what the hell is its purpose other then to occupy yourself and to make billions every year for the tobaco company?. just cant figure out why we have these stupid double standards in america. Does the UK have these same double standards as well?

Re: Is Alcohol a Sin?
Why do you want to know any ways. If you want to drink then drink else if don't If you drink more than you can handle then you'll get drunk, forget sips of wine though I've been drinking wine since I was 13 and my dad used to give me gin to stop me screaming when I was ikkle and I am what my boss calls a opinionated but sedentary drunk. I work in union bar where all thing being equal we get bought a drink every half hour between 9pm and midnight and may be a bottle to take home. We don't generally get pissed until the end of the shift except when we've got a special deal on like five pounds in all drinks are 50p. Someone care to tell the Americans here that in $.
Alcohol is great. Listen to a song by the Levelers, can't remember its name but its on the One Way of Life CD. Great song about the good effects of alcohol.
But everyone knows this shit man and if you want a god squad debate then post in their fourm for the non-exsitant sentient beings sake.

Re: Is Alcohol a Sin?
alcohol sucks.
give me something that will fuck me up and not make me feel like shit the next day.
maybe that's why drugs are illegal;
something of our puritan ways that we can't let go of.
you can't fully enjoy something without also feeling the pain.
and if coke made your dick hard bob dole would be selling it on television with his dog on the beach watching bitches run by.

Re: Is Alcohol a Sin?
I think what they mean in the bible is that the mind shouldn't be clouded by any subsance, should it be alcohol, durgs or anything else, so as to not cloud you jugement and affect your liberty.

Re: Is Alcohol a Sin?
Alcohol hardly ever makes me feel like shit the next day, well at least no more shit than anything else, which isn't very.
~Kameron Lucky Strike and Wiskey and coke for starters. Cigar and Voka + red bull for main course. Joint and Archers and Tobasco for pudding. Perfect night at the pub.

Re: Is Alcohol a Sin?
i dunno, the relious folk tend to ban things that are to out of this world. Maybe jesus smoked some weed on the cross so he didn't feel all the pain? Maybe your thinking of glutony maybe? consuming more then the usual amount.

Re: Is Alcohol a Sin?
If it were it would be kind of hypocritical for jesus to turn water into wine.

Re: Is Alcohol a Sin?
Raverz_choice.. Not all wiccans are pagans.
And as for the water into wine comment, I totally agree.
The whole point of this was not to be preachy but to question how the Bible was translated into english. And why we have these stupid ass double standards in the American Laws. Why is a deadly substance that kills more people every year (if not every month) then all the cases of deaths caused by asbestos in recorded history. And yet we outlawed asbestos.

Re: Is Alcohol a Sin?
...you can't get high off of asbestos, for one thing...... Some drugs may not kill but I think the whole point they're outlawed is because they make you act uncivilized... and that's the whole point of civilization and Democracy... to be "human" or civilized... to be controled. Now alcohol that has grown into us... it's always been there, and people are so used to it(while some are so in love with it) that it would be impossible to outlaw. Hasn't America tried that once before? Instead they keep giving the subject rules... where you can buy it, when, how etc.

Re: Is Alcohol a Sin?
You know if they advertised Asbestos with that Malboro Man on a horse and got a cool jingle, it woun't be illegal.
Oh, yeah, and the asbestos lobby would have to bribe a lot of politicians too...

Re: Is Alcohol a Sin?
I think the only reason asbestos was finally outlawed was the billions they made on cleaning it up.
Thats right, The Government recieves 1/3 of all revenue in the form of taxes. so the Government made shitloads of money off of this.
