First of all, Quebec use to be a french colony before being taken over by the english in 1763. A majority of the population in Quebec are decendents of theses french colonists and still use the french language and are called francophones. Since the 1960's, francophones started to push for sovereinty meaning that today, every little thing you do in Quebec has political implications, from flying a flag to choosing what school your children go to.

And if the signs have both french and another languague (such as english, chinese etc...) the french writing has to be a lot bigger than the other language's writing....ahh fuck im not making sense...basically quebec sucks its like an ongoing battle between the french and everyone else (i.e english, ethnics). To top it all off, everyone must speak french in order to get a job, but most french kids aren't really forced into learning english the way english kids are forced to learn french. i know this from experience. the list of shit goes on and on....
