USA should sign Kyoto
Not many people know what Kyoto is. It is an Accord to Lower CO2(Carbon Dioxide) Emissions to stop global warming. Canada and New Zealand and 97 other Countrys have or are in the process of signing on. Now one major concern with this is that it'll hurt the economy and cause thousands in the oil industry and other pulluting industries to lose their jobs. Thats why Ralph Klien the Premier of the Canadian province of Alberta is so against this. I think we could achieve this easily without any of these concerns. The Canadian government is providing discount incentives for buying energy efficient appliances. There are also lots of positive economical ways to do this. Like wind Power which is already starting to become popular. I think this will also encourage companys to spend more money to reduce emmisions rather than just shut stuff down. Anyways, Since the US pollutes way more than Canada, I think they should join The Kyoto Accord.
Don't think we need to? Haven't you noticed the last few winters been really mild? It isn't El nino still. So shouldn't we be concerned?

If things keep going as they have, the Earth's got about 50 years to live. After that it's going to look a lot like Blade Runner.

Re: USA should sign Kyoto
Of course the USA should be signing it... but it's not going to happen. We've got a R president and a R congress. Fat chance of that happening. Hell, I would be surprised if it happened under all Dems.

Re: USA should sign Kyoto
Kyoto was going to save the fucking world (from at least one disaster) but then the united states backed out (the main contributer of the polutants) because george bush didn't wanna risk getting voted out next term (what with having to fire half his inbred population) So the majority of the other countries, who ten years ago agreed to do this, backed the fuck out, thier all fuckers

Re: USA should sign Kyoto
Man, being from Canada, I'm glad as hell Canada signed the Kyoto Accord. Sure, it will cause the loss of many jobs in Canada, especially Alberta (That's my province ), but, in the event this does happen, WE WILL RECOVER! Those industries that take the hardest blow will take advantage and reap the benefits of new, environmentally-friendly technologies. That goes for every country that hasn't (yet) signed.

i saw on an enviromental/educational video over biosphere2. the scientists said that el nino happens once every 6-7 years. and that we are in one now. i dont know how long ago the last one was, but it was around 96' i thought. so i think that we may be in another. however, it said that it affects different areas differently, naturually. but i do agree that things are heating up and it isnt all el nino.
