UPDATE: on your shroom guide
Not to sound like I know more about mushrooms than the smurfs. . but I got a really good guide to cultivating indoors! I gotz to give credit to my boyz at www.sporetradingpost.com ! they are the BIGGEST inovaters in cultivation today! By my opinion of course! Id hook you up with there secrets, but that would be bad karma! Unless you bribe me or give me head! but here is a sample takin from da site:
Pressure cooker
Keepers' Poor Boys Glove Box (Buy it)
Keepers' Water Incubator (Buy it)
Finch Bird Seed (3 Cups)
STP Casing Soil
Three Wide Mouth 1-qrt jars.
Three HEPA filter's (90 mm).
Three Plastic/Autoclave Wide Mouth Lids (Pre-drilled w/1" hole)
Gypsum
Aluminum Foil
2 Aluminum Foil Bread Loaf Pans per Jar.
Z-Strain Spore Syringe! (12cc)
Spring Water (INCLUDE YOUR OWN)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok now that you got all of the things you need together, here we go.
First you need to get your seed and put it in your jar. Use 1 cup for a 1-quart jar, any more then 1 cup and you will not be able to shake the jar later. Measure 1/2-cup spring water for 1-cup of see (2:1 ratio). So now you got your water and your seed in the jar you need to add just a pinch of gypsum and mix it up with a metal or plastic spoon (no wood spoons please). Now put your filter on and screw your lid [that has the hole] on snug...
NOW, I can't emphases this enough, you MUST put aluminum foil over the top to make sure no water gets in or out! IF you DO NOT your seed will get too wet or too dry your ratio will be FUCKED and you will have to start over.
Load the jars into your Pressure Cooker and let it rip! If you're like me and your Pressure Cooker goes up to 15 psi (highly recommended from the Keeper) all you will need to do is to allow it to rise to 15 psi and start your time...15 psi for 60 mins. Or 10 psi for 75 minutes.
After your time is up and the pressure has returned to normal take out all of your jars and allow them to cool at room temp for about one hour. If possible allow them to cool in a running 'Poor Boys Glove Box. They will be hot as hell so you MUST use potholders, towel or anything else BUT your bear hands. After one hour take a look at them...you will notice that the top of the seed is dry and the bottom is mushy. What you will do next is roll them the grains are thoroughly mixed and all is evenly wet again. Once that is done you should place them in a secure place or in a running 'Poor Boys Glove Box', from the Keeper, for the next 24 hrs (or at least overnight) allowing the jars to cool completely. If you were to inoculate them too soon your spores would certainly fry! If you did all the steps that I've given you thus far, your jars will look like this...
Now here is when the cool stuff begins!
Get your Spore syringe (use only high quality syringes from the Keeper) and jars and put them into your glove box. Available with Kits MGK or A/B, or purchased separately, and start it up. Now this is the tricky part. If you are using the KEEPER'S BREW you only need to use 2cc's (Spore Drop Tech...only 1cc). If not...I would go with 4cc's of spore solution per jar. Now all within your glove box take off the foil and undo ONE of the lids. As soon as you get it to the point that it is open, you need to squirt the correct amount into the jar (on the sides of the jar) and close it back up.
Open the lid to the Glove Box and spray the lids with Lysol...an nice thin layer should do it.
Place the original foil back over the lids and place the jars into a Keepers' Water Incubator set to 86F.
You should see mycelium growing with in the 2-3 days if you have used the Keepers Brew only 12 hrs if the Keepers Brew was processed using the Spore Drop technique.
Regular spore syringe inoculation of the grain will take about 5-7 days.
Now just sit back and wait until your jar is 50% white. At this point give your jar a good shake. What you are trying to do is get the mycelium evenly throughout the grain jar. Place your jar back into the incubator and wait until mycelium has completely colonized the seed (grain). After that you should give the jar one more good shake and wait 2 more days.
Now for the last part. You will need 2 Aluminum Foil bread loaf pans (any grocery store) for every quart jar and some STP casing soil.
Preheat your oven to 350F. Once it is heated you can pull the bottom rack out as far as it will go. This technique will protect your materials from become contaminated from airborne debris.
Wipe out your bread pans with 91% rubbing alcohol and place it on bottom rack.
Pore half of the jar into each pan. You should have about a half-inch of birdseed. You want to cover that with your STP, Inc. Casing Mix (See directions for sterilization) so that you have at least one inch covering the entire pan.
Once you have done that, cover with plastic Saran wrap.
Place them back in your incubator set to 86F.
At this point the cakes need to remain in complete darkness until all you see is white throughout the whole pane. Now your can remove from the incubator.
I MUST STRESS THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING FAST AND CLEAN AT THIS TIME!
You are going to need to have your STP, Inc. Growing Chamber cleaned and ready.
What you are going to do is unwrap the bread pans and pop-out the fully colonized cakes and place them into the Growing Chamber.
In about a week to ten days you will start to see pins forming and well...you know the rest.....
If all goes well, using Keepers' Kits, you will be seeing this in a matter of weeks. www.sporetradingpost.com! L8
