That's the big misconception. Hemp comes from the sister plant of marijuana. The amount of THC in a Hemp plant is close to nil. The government argues that if hemp was made legal, people would start growing marijuana, and it's too hard to distinguish the two except by close examination. What really killed the use of industrial hemp was the synthetic fiber industry, and companies like Dupont.

hemp is less of a sister plant and more of a different strain. there are hundreds possibly thousands of marijuana strains and these low to no thc plants are just strains that carry little to no THC.

If you want medicine you grow a high or average THC marijuana or hemp plant.

if you want cloth there are strains best for softer or stronger cloth.

people talk about how hemp clothes are uncomfortable are we forgetting that over %50 of the U.S.'s fertilizers go into cotton when hemp needs barely any, but there are different strains of hemp and ways of obtaining the fabric that can make more comfortable cloth.

there now are synthetic, cheap, stronger ropes than hemp but hemp is still, very easy to get. and has outperformed most of the cheaper synthetic ropes.

plus hemp is very drubale and strong, I have a pouch made of hemp and I think if 2 people grabbed onto one end each and leaned bag the bag would support them without a tear.
