I know niggers mix this with codeine, and call it sizzurp to get fucked up on. Does promethazine have any decent psychoactive effects on it's own though? My mom was prescribed some for nausea, and says it made her drowsy, dizzy, and made her just feel fucked up. I've read a few things on the internet about people saying it's somewhat similar to the effects of opiates, is this true? Anybody have any experiences, or is it pretty much not worth it?

First time I had promethazine was when I went to the ER because I was throwing up so much due to the awful case of stomach flu I had. I was throwing up so badly, I couldn't even get to sleep no matter how hard I tried. I was also dehydrating myself from throwing up so much, so that didn't really help the situation (couldn't even keep juice down.) Once in the ER, I got IV promethazine along with some saline for the dehydration. My experience is as follows:

My dad drove me home from the ER. I was already feeling drowsy on the ride home, and once we finally arrived, I passed the fuck out on my bed and didn't wake up until the next afternoon.

I got a bottle of promethazine pills that night too, but I never took them. So based on my one experience, you can expect drowsiness and that's about it.

No way is it similar to opioids, except for the fact that opioids can make you drowsy too. Probably more drowsy than the promethazine, but I wouldn't know.

Honestly, I think the effects of promethazine are about the same as the effects of OTC antihistamines like diphenhydramine or doxylamine.

Depends on your perception of psychoactive. Essentially it's just a good antihistamine.

in my experience it is a great sleep aid and probably a good opiate potentiator but other than that it is not anytning that will produce a nice high or anything.

It is an antihistamine so I was just saying at high doses it causes delirium like other antih's. At therepeutic doses it is however a sedative.

So it's pretty much like a delirient like benadryl? I don't think I'll even experiment then, I've tried to trip on benadryl and just passed out for almost a whole day.

in high doses yes. In doses like 25-150mg it is just a sedative. i would say let your mom keep them for nausea as that is what they are most useful for. not worth any recreational experimentation. Like i said they are good for getting to sleep though. The thing about them is for me they do not feel like they have as strong of anticholergenic effects.(which is a good thing it doesn't feel like benedryl in that sense) I actually like them and hydroxyzine. Save them for opiate potentiation or nausea of course after mommy is done with them.
