Personally, I say something along the lines of nuclear war. It is inevitable that our technologies and luxuries will carry us to our graves.

I'm not certain on the means exactly, but it will obviously be our own doing. That or one of the major natural disasters that we're long overdue for.

Personally, I'm hoping that there is a nuclear war that wipes out some of the population and leaves the rest of us with super powers, which we will use to fight to the death in a battle of epic proportions. Probably not going to happen...but a girl can dream, right?

Humans are resilient as fuck, we are even worse then cockroaches.
Therefore I don't think that a we will disappear until the earth is totally annihilated, like no more atmosphere/planet annihilated.

I do think though that a mass extinction is possible in the next few thousand years, that would more or less reset humanity to the stone age with a population of just a few hundred thousand at most.

It would be interesting to live in the next "digital age" when humanity is coming around again, and discovering all our left-overs left and right.

I'm kinda looking forward to a zombie holocaust.

Anyways, there's tons of things that can happen that threaten our existence; some being within our control and some being out.

Nuclear war comes to mind, but that's a given.

If man-made global warming is real, or if we contribute to the general warming of the planet, we might just lose civilization. What would we do with 2+ Billion refugees?

Then there's the grey goo scenario, in which malfunctioning, self replicating nanomachines consume all matter on the planet.

And then there's the shit out of our control, such as the end of the Sun's main sequence stage and subsequent expansion and destruction, a nearby gamma ray burst eradicating life, others, and the eventual cold death of the Universe.

I don't think Hitler is coming back from Hawaii chilling with B.I.G., Elvis, Tupac, JFK and the rest of the family bro.

There seems to be two main camps.

A.) The world ends due to some kind of nuclear disaster.

B.) Zombies.

Why should these two be mutually exclusive?

The world becomes a nuked out landscape with vast parts of land tainted by nuclear radiation. Something causes the bodies of the recently dead to arise again, hungry for the flesh of the living. Groups of humans flock to the only known places safe from the irradiated zombies.

This all seems bad, but it's only when your group is starving, no food in sight, and you begin to think rationing out the flesh of the fattest member of the group that the true horror and hopelessness finally sinks in.

I don't think human civilization will just be 100% wiped out. What I fear is that we'll have a major disaster, a war, or some other thing that knocks us down to a few remaining people before we can spread off of Earth. Within a few generations these survivors will have forgotten all the accumulated knowledge of history, and everything that the species has ever worked for will be lost to the past, and we'll be forced to start over and in all likelihood repeat our mistakes.

Well I am more then 100% sure that man kind will be wiped out by a virus or bacteria that just kills us. I think this because man kind is becoming more and more susceptible to disease, people who shower everyday destroy there immune system and there tolerance level to disease, that is why people who shower everyday and what not get colds and other ailments more often. And eventually some super virus will just wipe us out, be afraid of super aids

I predict a supervolcano. Yellowstone's elevations are rising, bulging, and it sits on a huge caldera of magma. I'll be out of the U.S., so I won't get wiped out immediately, but I do know that I'll die directly as a result. And all of the human race will go with me. And it will happen on December 21, 2012.
