love: a conscious decision?
Discuss, por favor. I'm young, confused, and what to know what your thoughts are on this.

No, and stop looking for answers in other people.
Live your life and find out

Oh, so you blindly make decisions prior to weighing others' opinions? I asked for an opinion, not for my opinion to be made.

Re: love: a conscious decision?
Love is an individual thing. You can read about it, talk about it, rationalize it all you want, but all that means nothing until you've experienced it yourself. It's different for everyone and you need to find your own way.

Re: love: a conscious decision?
It is, in a way.
For example, you can't "think yourself" into loving someone in a romantic way if there's just absolutely nothing there.
But, if there is something there, you can consciously help it grow, or make it die.

Re: love: a conscious decision?
No fucking way is it a conscious choice.
When my girlfriend broke up with me, I tried really hard to change my romantic interest to other people. It doesn't work man. I was trapped in love with that bitch.
So I went and fixed things with her, we got back together. Then I took totse's advice and broke up with her. Then she came and told me she still wanted me back and we're back together.
I don't care what anyone thinks, I'm fucking happy rawrawrawrawrrrr
So no, you can't choose who you love.
Edit: I heard this quote from some movie a while ago: "The most terrifying thing about love is that you don't own it. It owns you."

Don't underestimate the power of your own mind.
How would you rate your willpower? On a scale from 1 to 10.

Explain why.

Explain why.
Because he wants to evaluate whether you actually put up a decent stand or if it was a miserable attempt.

Keep in mind that I'm fifteen years old and still have trouble reading picture books.
Please explain.

Well - you could be one of those people that are a slave to their mood, always act on their impulses, or can't put up with a bit (or a lot) of pain to get something good (but optional), or can't control their fears.
Or maybe you're one of those people that can kick an addiction just by making a conscious decision to stop indulging in whatever they are addicted to.
Some people need to be physically restrained and still can't give up smoking - others just put down their cigarette one day and never smoke again.

Well the reason she broke up with me was because I was being a total asshole.
I got back together with her and told totse what happened, and everyone was like "Dump her man, your relationship will suck otherwise!" so for some stupid ass fucking reason (last fucking time I ever do that, too) I broke up with her.
Then I was totally fucking miserable because I realized what a mistake I had made for listening to an internet forum who didn't even KNOW the girl or the situation. Seriously, how fucking stupid am I?
So obviously when she came back and said she still wanted to be with me I couldn't say no. I was lucky to get a second chance after being such a dumbass.
I wasn't trying to fall out of love with her because she treated me badly (because she treats me pretty fucking good). It was because it would make it easier to cope with the pain.

So your example is relevant to this thread how?

You haven't noticed by now that I like talking about my own relationship issues in threads even when it isn't necessary?

Re: love: a conscious decision?
No it isn't.
I've made the stupid move of possibly falling in love with a very dear friend of mine who still loves her ex-boyfriend from which she is separated and shall be separated from for the next 6 months.
I say possibly because I don't actually know what love is.
She crosses into my thoughts every day and sometimes I feel like I shall have to remove it using cranial aspiration via projectile.
But then I'd have broken my promise never to forget her.
I'm one bi-polar panda right now.
