| Network (in)Security Interesting hacks and cracks. Info on firewalls, TCP/IP, encryption, networks, and security. The ins and outs of the phone system, caller services, how things work, what's illegal and what's not, cellular phones, beepers, telephony legislation, the PUC, ISDN, taps, who's listening, and switches. Talking about phones, hacking systems, technical advice, and such is completely LEGAL in the United States -- it's covered by the First Amendment. What's illegal is conspiracy to commit a crime. So if you say something like "Meet me at 2am so we can crack a can" or "I changed my cell phone's number myself" you are criminally liable. Stating "You can crack a can by doing thus-and-so" or "If you wanted to change a cell phone's number, you could do it like so" is perfectly OK. Posting passwords, calling card numbers, or credit card numbers is forbidden on this network. Posting such info will get you booted off the net. |

Need some help with my Network..
So i use a linksys switch (i thought it was a router) and it used to seem to work, but now that i have att dsl i cant connect more then one computer on it.. Say if i want to get on my xbox live i have to go to my Network Connections and manually disable it.. (I use Windows xp)
So i figured that if i bought an actual router it would fix that but.. nope i got a Netgear Wireless WGR614v9 router for 45 dollars... and it still wont fucking work... is it my actual dsl modem or what? I have no clue what to do.. and all that troubleshoot bullshit from their website hasnt done jackshit... so any help would be appreciated..

Re: Need some help with my Network..
You might have to adjust your settings on the modem. I think you might have PPPoE set on the computer, and you need to set it to the modem. Or the other way around... I'm not sure at the moment because it's been so long since I've had ATT DSL. I've had this problem too, so try that first.

Re: Need some help with my Network..
The router should fix that. It should go like this:
>xbox
*
modem ---->router< ---> computer
*
>other computer
